It's Not Over Yet

Summary:

The timer froze at 00:01.

Already, tension had built up in anticipation of the next round. The survivors went even more tense when the next round just didn’t happen.

It broke the cycle that everyone grew used to. It was something different, and different was scary.

Glances were exchanged across the room, though no one said a thing.

Suddenly, the world around them glitched. They were being teleported, though not in the same way they got teleported to a new round. The world around them fell apart, and suddenly… everything turns to black.

Or
Everyone gets unforsaken! Except… Robloxia isn’t as they remember.

Notes:

Hiii!! This entire fic is just to cure boredom and drive my creativity, so I'm not putting too much thought into it lol
I already have a 3 chapters written... anyways, I mostly just want to mention I'm one to jump around things so I likely won't get far with this

First ao3 fic!! Ehe

Having that said, even if this is just for fun feedback would be appreciated!! And also tag suggestions because I'm terrible at tagging XD

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter Text

The timer froze at 00:01.

Already, tension had built up in anticipation of the next round. The survivors went even more tense when the next round just didn’t happen

Chance groans as they wake up with an awful headache. He’s used to it by now, though. It’s better than being ripped apart to death, he supposes.

He looks around. The sky is dark, indicating it’s night. Though it’s always night in the Purgatory. Around them are broken buildings. He feels he’s seen them before, but he doesn’t realise why until they look to his right.

Their family’s mansion. Completely untouched, standing out like a sore thumb to its broken surroundings. What kind of sick joke was this?

Cautiously he approached what was once his home. In certain areas the light was on, as if someone was inside. Chance pondered on whether he should enter through the front door or go through any of the many windows.

Not like they had anything to lose. He went straight for the door. The place was still tidy and luxurious. Though Chance’s  memory was blurry it was exactly as he last remembered.

Suddenly there were footsteps, and Chance put his fingers on their flintlock with precaution. It came from the left hallway.

Mary, previously Chance’s personal assistant, was walking their way.

She stops, eyes wide seeing Chance. They made eye contact, though Mary couldn’t see through Chance’s sunglasses.

Mary rubs her eyes in disbelief, and when Chance doesn’t disappear she speaks up.

“Sir Chance, is that really you?”

There’s a pause. Chance’s thoughts were spiraling. This wasn’t real, no way. This was a dream- no, a nightmare. He jumps feeling soft hands touch his shoulders.

“By the admins, where have you been!?” Mary exclaims with worry. She takes Chance to the bathroom as he’s dissociating. She’s quick to prepare the bathtub, and when she’s finished she carefully gives Chance a towel.

“You’re awfully dirty, take a bath and I’ll get Jeffery to cook up a nice meal. We can talk about your disappearance after, okay?” She waits for a reaction, but upon getting nothing she claps in front of Chance’s face.

“Did you hear me?” She huffs. Chance stares at her for a moment before giving a quick nod. She gives them a small smile before leaving him to his own thoughts.

This felt… surreal. Every touch from Mary felt real, every noise too calculated to be a dream. But his mind wouldn’t let him believe it’s real. It didn’t make sense.

A round was about to start, but then suddenly without warning he’s home. Welcomed by Mary’s warm touch, and now he’s about to take a bath in the luxury he used to live in. It didn’t explain the broken buildings outside. Why was his mansion the only one in perfect condition?

Bath. Right. That sounded good. Some peace for once.

He’s quick to undress, and lays down in the tub to just think. They have a lot to think about.

Mary had brought new clothes for Chance. Well… not really new, it was his old clothes. But they were clean unlike what they had been wearing for however long the purgatory lasted. It was just casual clothing, a white button up shirt and bright red cotton pants. They forgot how flashy he used to be.

Mary gave them a fur jacket when she noticed how cold he was, despite the warm bath. He was then given food from the family’s cook, Jeffery. Both he and Mary jumped at how eager Chance was to eat.

It wasn’t like he starved in the Purgatory, it was just that the only thing he ate was pizza the entire time. Pizza was good, but it loses interest when you eat only that for a long period of time.

Mary sits down beside Chance.

“Can you answer some questions for me?” She asks softly, careful to not startle Chance. She didn’t know where Chance had been but she assumes somewhere awful with how awful he looked upon arrival.

After swallowing his food Chance gives a flashy grin. Mary seemed slightly taken aback by it.

“Sure, hit me with ‘em!” He himself is surprised by his voice still working. Mary seems confused for a moment at the sudden shift in mood, but she’s quick to adjust.

“Where have you been?” She asks.

“I’d probably sound crazy. Ya still wanna hear?” When getting a nod from Mary he continues.

“I was forced into a game of cat and mouse! Now before you guess, I was unfortunately a mouse in this scenario. I had to survive with a bunch of others, admins and robloxians alike while hackers— featuring Jason Voorhees™ —tried to kill us!”

Chance couldn’t help but notice how worried Mary looked at him.

“And kill us they sure did! Over, and over again.. But sometimes we survived! Only for a false sense of victory, to be rid of when a new round started. Anyways.. yeah, that’s the gist of it!”

Despite his enthusiasm, Mary was still just worried.

“I… don’t know what to say. I feel so sorry for you, that you had to go through that.. But you’re here now! Safe and sound,” she gives her signature small smile.

Chance didn’t like her reaction. It reminded him that what he went through wasn’t actually normal, and was something to be concerned about. He knew that, but now he was a freak in the normal world. If this still isn’t a dream, that is.

“Robloxia hasn’t been in the best situation during your absence, but thanks to sir iTrapped this place and the casino has been doing well!”

Chance’s smile completely falls at the mention of his name. iTrapped. He had forgotten that name. They hoped it could’ve stayed forgotten.

He does an awkward cough. “iTrapped?”

Mary just continues smiling. “Yeah! Your best friend, remember?”

“Uh… yeah.”

Mary continues talking about Robloxia’s situation.

Shortly after Chance had gone missing there was a Banlands breach. Many, many hackers had escaped. Though it was an awful time for many robloxians, the admins had managed to get control of the situation. Even after their most known admins had gone missing.

Robloxia would’ve stayed in peace if the admins hadn’t suddenly gone rogue. Without Roblox Headquarters to keep everything under control Robloxia went into chaos. Hackers had gone out of hiding to take control of certain areas of Robloxia.

To add salt to the wound, Robloxia suddenly started experiencing harsh weather and monsters that ate robloxians spawned all across the world.

…That was a lot to take in. Chance was in shock.
