Work Text:
You weren’t sure how it happened, but you were now sitting with four other versions of yourself. Okay, that’s not entirely true. You know how it happened with two of them. Saffron and Romance, the hot and irritating mafia brothers, had brought this universe’s version of you to the hotel you were currently working with.
The jerks. They knew you had been avoiding meeting her. Then there was one version of you that had come through a mirror. Apparently she had the ability to travel through any reflective surface. Which was really cool.
The other two… you weren’t sure how they got here. Neither did they, so that didn’t help. What did help is that everyone agreed to coming up with nick names so things didn’t get confusing. You, of course, were sticking with the one used for your new identity here. Belladonna. Or Bella. Whichever they preferred to use.
The original (Y/n) of this universe was going by Skulls, the name she went by when working for one of her brothers. Looks like that was something you two had in common. The (Y/n) that came through the mirror decided to go by a dessert name. Baklava. Fitting since she said she owned a bakery.
Then there was one who went by Lottery. They were a non-binary baddie who was decked out in dark purple and black and looked like they jumped right out of an early 2000s hip-hop movie. They were a professional gambler and con artist. The last one went by the name of Fae. She said was half fairy. Which got Baklava all excited, knowing that she wasn’t the only half Monster here.
“You know what I do for a living. What do you all do for work?” Baklava asked, still all sparkly eyed and excited about this whole situation.
“You already know what I do. I told ya, I gamble and am a con artist. Not the best morally. However, it does make me some serious bank.”
Skulls spoke up next to you, almost eager to keep the conversation going. “I work at Clover Corps. It's a company my brothers started and I'm finally putting my branch to good use. I help Monsters find jobs.”
Everyone was rather impressed and seemingly grateful hearing that. They had the same goal as you, even if they went about it in different ways. Helping the Monsters live a better life.
“Alright. My turn, I guess.” Fae said, setting down her drink. “I also work for a family made business. I'm kind of like a hit man-”
“You work for the mafia.” You and Skulls corrected.
“Okay. Yes. Thank you. I'm from a mafia family, you snitches.” Rolling her eyes at all the snickering, Fae turned her attention to you. “Your turn, Bella. What do you do for work?”
“Oh. Uh… I help here at the hotel that Seraphim, Imp, Blood, and Marrow own. But my main job is being a performer. You know… singing and dancing…” You turned your attention to Skulls who was sitting next to you. “That's why Saffron and Romance brought you here right? Because you needed a performer?”
“Oh! Right. I forgot…”
“That’s understandable given the circumstances.” Baklava reassured Skulls with a gentle smile.
She mouthed a thank you before continuing. “I was looking for someone to perform at a New Years Eve party my family and I are throwing. You just so happen to meet all our requirements.”
When was the last time you did a live performance? It could be fun. And you’d be able to stay in touch with this version of yourself. Maybe even meet some of the other skeletons. “You know what? I’d love to.”
Excited cheers from the three other versions of yourself rang out in the large room, causing you to laugh and join in. Lottery, Baklava, and Fae playfully whined about not being able to be here for the performance. After you and Skulls gloated and picked at them a bit, you all compared notes on your boys.
“This is a picture of me and my friend. I call him cash money and he calls me lucky lottery.”
The picture was Lottery’s lock screen. It was her and a Papyrus variant standing together in front of a rundown casino. Bright smiles on their faces.
“Hey, he looks like my friend Money.” Skulls said, leaning in closer to get a good look at the picture.
“They’re probably different versions of the same variant then. That’ll happen when the multiverse branches off.”
“You know a lot about the multiverse, don’t you? Could you teach me?” Skulls asked you. She seemed as clueless as you used to be before Fresh gave you a crash course in the subject.
“Yeah. I don’t mind.”
“I know a Money, too.” Baklava piped up. “Do you, Bella?”
“I… don’t think so?”
Have you run into Money before? You know that you’ve met Axe and Crooks once by accident. Luckily you were in full makeup and were wearing a wig, so they had no clue who you were. Ink as well. He just gave you this odd look you couldn’t decipher.
“Which skeletons do you know?” Skulls asked. You could see the gears in her head turning. That was never a good thing. “And what timeline are you originally from?”
Oh boy. You did not like where this was going. Pulling out your phone, you let the three girls gather in close to see as you scrolled through your camera roll.
“This is Fresh.” The picture you showed was kind of an older one from when you two first met at a garage party. “This tall guy here is Paint. Fresh introduced us when I ran into them at a craft fair.”
Fresh complained to you almost the whole time that Paint was torturing him by dragging him there. He was just doing it for the dramatics and it was hilarious.
“Then, we have the dancers. There’s Dance and his brother Tango, Remix and his brother Mashup, and last but not least, Samba and his brother DJ. They’re all my roommates.”
“Wow a full house.” Lottery commented, kind of blown away.
“I got myself a full house too. I think we have the same amount.”
“That’s nothing Fae. I live with fourteen of them.”
Fourteen? Damn. You didn’t think you could handle that many in one house. Swapping away from the picture of you and the six dancer brothers, you moved on to your neighbors.
“Okay, now we have Saffron and Romance. They’re the two who brought you here, Skulls.”
“The sexy mafia ones?”
“That’s the vibe they gave me when I first met them, too. Yes, that’s them. Oh! Here’s me, Geno, and Reaper having a horror movie marathon.” Someone had taken pictures of you three mid jump scare. Geno, the bastard, was the only one who didn’t get scared. “And this is G and Aster. All these guys live next door.”
“That’s got to be all the ones you know, right?” Lottery asked, almost looking concerned.
“If this is going how I think it is, then I’m going to guess that they’re not.”
“That is correct, Skulls.” You said, in your best game show host voice. “Your reward? Hearing about the skeletons that have infiltrated my life.”
“How the hell did you know that?”
“Elementary, my dear Lottery. …Plus, it’s basically my life. So…”
That it was. Kind of crazy how your and Skull’s lives were a lot more similar then the other versions of you.
“The others I know are Blood, Marrow, Seraphim, and Imp. They own this hotel. The last one I know is Dust, who is helping out here for the time being. Oh! I almost forgot about Grind. He’s another dancer.”
“That. Is insane. How can you handle all of those guys?”
“Carefully and happily.” You, Skulls, and Baklava said together, before laughing.
“I’m glad just to have two in my life. Now, tell us what timeline you're from.”
Crap. They remembered. “Well… Fresh said it was called Fellswap gold, I think…?”
Telling them about the world you came from and your life had brought the vibe down. Your life had been kind of depressing. Luckily, Skulls lightened the mood by telling you all about some of the misadventures she and her skeletons had been on.
You were having so much fun laughing and sharing stories with the three, when it was time for them to leave, you were sad to see them go. Fortunately, Skulls wanted to exchange numbers and joked about starting a support group for those two who fell in love with a bunch of troublesome skeletons.
Looks like your life was about to get even more crazy. And you couldn't wait.
