Chapter Text
Larry was working his daily shift at tea n’ stuff on Wednesday the day when Steve always had his weekly trip to the chain tea store to get his "herbal infusion" “Hello Welcome to tea n’ stuff” Larry said not exactly paying attention to who was coming in, after all he had another shift at organic n’ stuff in about seven minutes
“Heyyyy Larry” mr small said in a bit of a singsongy voice, “ just getting some herbal infusion before I head to the psychic crystal convention,”
“Yeah yeah thats good” Larry muttered while putting Steve's items in a paper bag
“Hey man, do you want to tag along? You deserve a break, I don’t think I’ve ever seen you outside of work, that can’t be good for your chakras man” Steve said, concerned for both Larry’s mental, physical and supposedly spiritual health.
Larry mentally tuned back into the conversation, “Oh, that's a nice gesture steve but I’m not really into that type of stuff,” Steve seemed a bit disappointed at this but not wanting to leave the conversation off on a negative note Larry remarked, “well it’s not that I don’t want to go, its well, I have to open organic n’ stuff in a few minutes, but, uhhhh have fun?”
Steve perked up, “thanks Larry I’ll be sure to tell you how it is!” he proclaimed as he exited the tea store with an obvious grin.
The overworked employee sighed waiting to see if anyone else was coming into the store before driving to his next job.
Larry woke up after actually managing to get a few hours of sleep between his night shift and his shift in about 30 minutes ugh he felt terrible and he just knew Steve was going to stop by tea n’ stuff to try to spark up another conversation with him, but if Larry was being completely honest those small mildly annoying conversations really got him through the week.
After his morning routine Larry got into his car today might have been the only day in months he felt excited, the reason, he finally had the time to go on a
date with his girlfriend, Karen. He felt kind of guilty that he hadn’t been able to spend time with her between all of his shifts, but Larry had a feeling that this was going to go well!
(I’m so sorry Larry)
Larry drove to tea n’ stuff and as expected, Steve Small showed up yet again “Larry! Glad to see you again man!”
“It’s only been one day,” Larry muttered under his breath.
“The psychic crystal convention went great if you were wondering, Oh! Almost forgot I got you something,” Steve said reaching into one of his pockets, “I got you a necklace at the convention, Green Aventurine for good vibes at all of your careers! Figured you could use some luck,”
He handed the crystal necklace to the cashier, “Wow, uh thanks Steve this is the nicest thing someone has done for me in a while…” Larry said his voice trailing off Steve gave that stupid, but endearing wide grin he always did whenever someone gave the man the slightest complement.
“Well that's actually all I came in here to do have a nice day Larry!” The student counselor said exiting the tea store.
Larry put on the necklace, it felt kind of embarrassing. He didn’t actually believe in that “power of crystals” stuff but he had to admit it was a nice gift.
After a painfully average day Larry was finally ready for his date and after about 3 different almost-proposals, Larry was absolutely sure tonight would be the night when his proposal was NOT going to be messed up.
