The Sixth Saber

Summary:

[bjornruffian] I’ve been thinking about the end of the last episode. When we see Cyro getting pushed down the side of the mountain before it cuts to black. Do you think that Cyro would be injured? Or would his frame be able to withstand the damage? (I’M SO NERVOUS ABOUT WHAT WE’RE GOING TO SEE NEXT SEASON)

[RobotFan] I have to consider this.

[RobotFan] I will conduct some analysis.

Work Text:

[bjornruffian] I’ve been thinking about the end of the last episode. When we see Cyro getting pushed down the side of the mountain before it cuts to black. Do you think that Cyro would be injured? [RobotFan] I have to consider this.

[RobotFan] I will conduct some analysis.

Computron concludes that although the comparisons between himself and Cyro are superficial at best, they provide a basis on which to begin his analysis. The Simak Robotics Museum is not close to any major cities, but is it near two mountain features. Computron’s only obligations to the museum are his attendance at Robotics Then and Now, however, on Sundays, Robotics Then and Now has only one performance and it is during the morning.

Therefore, it is logical to utilize the time after his performance to explore the mountain area. Computron is not bound to the museum, although there are no legal documents specifying Computron’s status, other than as a donation from the Alquist estate. However, it would be prudent not to create a situation which could involve further complications in the future.

As bjornruffian might say, “It is better to ask forgiveness than permission,” although neither would be preferable in Computron’s case.

Outside, he is able to analyze the hardness of the rock in the soil and the likelihood of repeated impact with a falling body. Taking those calculations with the angle of the slope and the speed that Cyro may have achieved, Computron is able to determine the force on Cyro’s frame and likely effect of damage.

When Computron returns to the museum, it would be illogical to think of himself as Cyro after defeating the fourth saber to retrieve the unconscious body of Ellison, but the episode seems to be analogous in that both Computron and Cyro have set out to achieve a goal and then completed such goal.

[RobotFan] I have concluded my analysis.

--File Transfer of “mountain-caclulations.zip” from “RobotFan” started.

--File Transfer of “mountain-calculations.zip” from “RobotFan” finished.

[bjornruffian] WOW

[bjornruffian] Wow these simulations are insane. It must have taken you forever! But also…poor Cyro. He’s definitely bruised and banged up. What will Ellison do? Will he be able to repair Cyro? Oh my god, I can’t believe we have to wait a WHOLE YEAR until the next season.

[RobotFan] Ellison does not have the tools needed in order to fix Cyro

[bjornruffian] BUT IT CAN’T END LIKE THAT (I mean, I know it won’t. There’s no way that they kill off Cyro. They just can’t. But I’m in agony)

[RobotFan] There were significant component parts on the deactivated robot exoplanet.

[bjornruffian] I like the way you think! I think that this is a great idea. So Ellison brings the deactivated Cyro back to the planet that caused them so much agony. Oh my god I love the way this is going. All the hurt and comfort.

[RobotFan] Cyro would likely still have some capabilities

[RobotFan] But other than that, I believe that would be a satisfactory premise.

[bjornruffian] : DDDDDDD I am so into this! AHHHHH the creative juices are flowing.

Otaku Fan Magazine

Okuda Eiki won the best male seiyuu at the Annual Seiyuu Awards for his portrayal of Ellison in Hyperdimension Warp Record. In the three seasons released, the cast and crew has received rave reviews for the portrayal of Ellison, a prison escapee on a quest for revenge, and Cyro, his robot companion, as they seek the Seven Sabers of Paradise. Of special note was the season finale where Ellison found out that his parents had been alive and in hiding, on their own quest for revenge. Their paths clashed over the fifth saber and the ultimate destruction of the fifth saber resulted in Cyro being thrown from the top of a mountain, his future fate unknown. Okuda’s portrayal of Ellison was considered one of the top moments in anime this year. In his acceptance, Okuda thanked the entire team, but gave special thanks to Kida Shouhei, his fellow co-star and the voice of Cyro, saying “We are truly a team and Ellison’s performance directly plays off of Cyro’s. It’s an honor to work with Shouhei and I hope that his work is also honored in the same way.”

It would be illogical to take pride in another’s achievement of an award in which Computron has no direct input. But the reviews and ratings reflected the public’s intense satisfaction with Hyperdimension Warp Record’s third season, and it is logical to want the awards given to match the public acclaim, Computron thinks.

Hi everyone! bjornruffian here! The newest collaboration between RobotFan and myself is now up on fanficarchive.org here. This takes place immediately after the season finale. This is a long one, so you may want to wait until you’ve got some time to yourself before digging in. We spent a lot of time on it (and RobotFan ran such cool simulations to prepare for it—he’s got the numbers locked down!) and hope that you all enjoy it. Feel free to drop comments here or on fanficarchive!

After today’s Robotics Then and Now performance, Computron heads back to his storage room to turn on his computing unit’s keyboard. When he opens his electronic mail, instead of receiving approximately seven electronic messages, standard deviation of 3.2, he has three hundred and sixty-seven electronic messages in his inbox.

The instant message function pops up. It has already populated with two messages from bjornruffian.

[bjornruffian] OH MY GOD HAVE YOU SEEN IT?

[bjornruffian] I am losing my MIND. OH MY GOD. RobotFan???

[RobotFan] I am online now

[RobotFan] My ocular units are functioning

[bjornruffian] Okuda Eiki MENTIONED ONE OF OUR FICS. Oh my god, I am hyperventilating. I can’t believe that Eiki is reading our fics. HE IS READING OUR FICS and HE LIKES THEM. I am deadddddddd

[RobotFan] Surely you cannot be dead and also typing

[bjornruffian] if anyone could make me dead and also capable of typing it would be Okuda Eiki. I am so incredibly happy.
