Work Text:

Seven days. It had been seven whole days since he had last seen them.

It had only been a week, but it had felt like a whole year had already passed. Every second he spent alone felt like a second wasted, especially knowing Chalky and Broomer were just below him.

Some new developments had made Glub World more… accessible to the living, but the two plains of existence were only open to their one-way travel once a week: excessive intercourse of the realms would cause the terms ‘living’ and ‘dead’ to lose all meaning.

So Micro was only able to see the loves of his life once a week. At first, he had been upset, but he had come to accept it. He was destined to stay in eternal paradise, while Broomer and Chalky spent time with each other on Earth.

Micro shook his head, trying to clear his jealous thoughts. Despite the fact that it wasn’t often, he had still been able to see them. Many people, due to business, health, or other reasons, were rarely able to or even completely unable to see their loved ones. He had to be thankful for what he had.

Micro adjusted the blue bowtie he was wearing, smiling into his mirror. He was excited to see them! Even if they got to see each other more, they still loved him. He had to stop thinking negative.

Micro glanced around the room, looking to see if he needed to clean up any of his things. His cooking supplies were strewn about the counter, but he was sure Broomer and Chalky didn’t mind.

His eyes lingered on his chandelier for a bit. After their first ‘visit,’ Broomer and Chalky- well, Chalky with Broomer unwillingly tagging along- had spent a long time trying to convince the guards to give Micro his own house. Apparently Chalky was very convincing, because the next day, Micro found himself being forced out of his tower and into a huge, luxurious house, complete with a fancy chandelier.

It was a huge adjustment, but honestly, Micro was thankful for Chalky’s efforts. He had been perfectly fine just serving Glub World as their designated chef, but the tower was a little threatening. Having a house was much more… homely, and it was overall just a better place to spend his afterlife. Not to mention how appreciative he was that Chalky was willing to do so much for him.

With a smile, Micro walked over to the table in the corner of his room, picking up one of the gifts he had prepared for his boyfriends. It was nearly Christmas, and he had really wanted to get them some trinkets from Glub World.

Micro was so lost in thought that he jumped when his doorbell rung. He quickly put the gift box back on his table, and rushed to his front door. Out of habit, he stood on his tiptoes and looked into the peephole, and just as he was hoping, it was Chalky and Broomer!

They both looked very festive. Broomer was wearing a tie with candy canes on it, and Chalky was wearing a Santa hat.

Micro opened the door excitedly, leading the two into his house. Broomer gave him a peck on the cheek as he walked by, causing Micro to bite his lip to avoid giggling in delight. Broomer and Chalky, as they did in every one of their visits, immediately plopped down onto his couch, with Broomer propping his feet on Micro’s small coffee table- nearly knocking over the tea he had prepared.

“Oh- sorry,”

Micro walked over to the couch and sat in between the two. “That’s alright,”

He glanced over to Chalky, who, as per routine, was already chugging one of the teacups. Chalky was obsessed with any food or drink Micro made, but that was to be expected of the boyfriend of the most famous chef in the (Glub) world.

Just like every previous time, Micro chose to start their conversation with “how have you guys been?”

Broomer shrugged and looked off to the side. “We’re good. Season three’s been alright, at least from what I can tell from the black hole.”

Chalky let out a small laugh. “Yeah, it’s good. I wish I could see you guys more, though.”

Micro made a joking pouty face at Chalky. “I could say the same, at least you guys are in the same world!”

Broomer placed his hand on Micro’s shoulder, causing the latter to turn toward him. Broomer’s eyes were sympathetic, a regretful smile on his face. He tried in vain to hide it.

“You have no idea how much we miss you. I would do anything to bring you back down with us.”

Micro smiled back at him and shrugged. “I would do anything to come back down with you,”

The three of them sat in sad silence for a moment, the only noise being the noises of Chalky drinking the tea that had been reserved for Broomer.

Chalky put the cup down, offering some words of his own. “I’m glad we still get to see you in the first place. Especially the fact that we get to spend part of Christmastime together!”

Chalky’s eyes held some sadness, and Micro just smiled sadly back at him. Trying to lighten the mood, Broomer stood up and placed his hands on his hips.

“Well, he’s right, it is Christmas. So, uh, let’s get Christmassy..?”

Both Chalky and Micro giggled, and then Micro remembered the gifts he had prepared. He stood up and walked over to his table, grabbing the little boxes. He held one in each hand, and walked back over to Chalky and Broomer, who looked at him with anticipation.

Broomer let out a sigh. “I told you not to get me anything, babe,”

Micro shook his head and handed him his box. “I get anything I want for free. Let me do this for you, okay?”

Broomer looked off to the side, blushing a barely noticeable amount. “Ugh. Fine. But the thing I was making you isn’t finished yet, so you’ll have to wait.”

Micro tilted his head and smirked at Broomer. He didn’t know Broomer was making him something, but he was really excited. He let out a little giggle, making Broomer’s blush intensify.

Micro then turned to Chalky, holding out his gift for him. Chalky took it happily, leaning forward and giving him a light kiss.

Micro blushed and giggled, and waited for the two to open their gifts. Once they did, both of them looked back at him with smiles on their faces, Broomer’s holding a bit of confusion.

“Yeah, I know it’s not the best, but it’s just something to remember me by. The stock was not good this yeah,”

Chalky shrugged and slipped the bracelet on his wrists. Micro had gotten them a three-way best friends bracelet- although ‘best friends’ was a bit of an understatement. Broomer put his on next, and Micro walked over to his dresser to get his out of the drawer to put it on.

He walked back over to them, and they all just smiled warmly at each other. It was a small token of their love, but it was a token of love nonetheless. Broomer suddenly gave Micro a big bear hug, and Chalky joined in. It devolved into the three of them falling onto the couch and laughing.

“I love you guys,” Chalky giggled.

“I love you too,” Micro replied.

Broomer scooted a tiny bit further away from them, looking at his bracelet. He had gotten the middle piece of the BFF heart, the first F. His bracelet was purple, which is what he had told Micro his favorite color was.

Broomer noticed Micro looking at him and smiled back. “It’s cute,”

“You’re cute,”

Micro leaned in and kissed Broomer, and the two of them heard sipping noises from the background.

Their heads turned to Chalky, who was drinking the tea from Micro’s cup. Chalky’s eyes widened and he paused, but Micro just laughed. With a shrug, Chalky continued drinking.

Broomer wrapped his arm around Micro’s shoulder, and Micro subconsciously leaned into him. He heard Broomer whisper “I love you,” and he smiled, closed his eyes, and leaned further into him.

After a bit, he felt pressure on him as Chalky leaned on him. The three of them sat there in loving peace for a while. Micro wished it could’ve stayed like that forever.
