Chapter Text
I hear Cavalero of the Holdfasts shouting in my ear to get to extraction before the Void flood reaches us. Unlike Volt and Titania, my warframe Mag cannot keep up. So as I run through the hallways of my once former home, eons ago, I feel burning in my warframes heel and I know I wont make it. So as a last ditch effort to keep my companions safe, I use my abilities to throw metal debris in front of the extraction, keeping the Void from reaching them. I fall to the ground as I hear the extraction doors shut and I let out a sigh of relief.
“Mi-” I hear my comms cut in and out, a familiar and feminine voice, not like Cavalero. “Mira! Ca- -ou hear me?” Lotus.
The pressure of the Void bursts a nearby window open and pulls everything out into the vacuum, but I hold firm to the ground.
“Mira, m- child?” Lotus’s concerned voice says over the whooshing of air.
“I’m here Lotus.” I say, gazing into the void. “I’m sorry.” I say more out of habit.
“Please hold on, Ordis is coming to get you.” She says. “It’s going to be alright.”
My hand slips and I struggle to regain a grasp on the smooth flooring.
“Operator!” Ordis calls out in a panicked voice. “I am nearly there with the Orbiter!”
My grip is weakening but I see Ordis approaching the shattered window. My eyes widen as I see a figure standing on top of the ship with a wide smile. The Man in the Walls. He wears my skin and in a swift motion the ship is sliced cleanly in half. The ship explodes and debris of my former ship is thrown away.
“Operator, I am with you! I moved part of my cephalon consciousness into your suit before the ship was destroyed!”
As my warframe body is flung out into deep Void the only thought that goes through my mind is a rather silly one. ‘All that work collecting floofs, just to be vaporized in an instant.’
---
My body is flung in all directions as it burns from the Void and repairs itself over and over again, this is one of those moments I’m glad I don’t feel the pain of my warframes. Suddenly a Void rift opens under me, or I guess us since Ordis is here with me, it’s hard to forget the presence that is currently screaming loudly in my ear. I fall into the portal and suddenly I’m bathed in sunlight. When I see the ground rapidly approaching, I quickly reposition myself to have a clean landing.
I land and a crater erupts from me, demolishing the asphalt around me and sending dust into the air. Thankfully my warframe is undamaged but severely out of energy from repairing itself.
“Operator, be careful. You are not alone.” Ordis advises.
When he says that I go on high alert, suddenly becoming aware of my surroundings. I sense many presences and I stand on guard. I reach behind me to grab my bow but I find it’s not there, it must have been lost during the fall. Thankfully I still have my Skana, I unsheathe it and hold it defensively.
When the dust finally clears enough so I can see the figures around me, I’m a little taken aback. They seem to be in colorful costumes, they remind me of Orokin jesters the Executives would have for entertainment. Perhaps I interrupted a parade of sorts?
The tallest of the figures steps forward with confident steps. He has bright blonde hair and wears a blue, red, white and yellow costume. His bright smile almost makes me squint.
“And who might you be?” He questions in a boisterous voice.
I hear Ordis whisper in my ear even though they can’t hear him. “I do not recognize them from any of my databases. As well as my navigation seems to be offline.”
“How helpful.” I mutter. So I don’t know who they are or where I am, in other words, I’m fucked.
I decided on a more general introduction. “I am the Tenno.” I reply, attempting and failing to match his confidence.
“Tenno?” A red haired man that is literally on fire says. “Is that a family name?”
My internal face scrunches. How do they not know about the Tenno? The entire system knows about us. This place does sorta resemble old Earth, but there’s too many differences. Am I not in the Origin System?
“No, that is what I am. I am the Tenno?” I was never the one for conversation, I usually left that up to my squadmates.
“I do not think repeating yourself will help them understand, Operator.” Ordis pipes in.
“Not helpful, Ordis.” I say quietly. I try to regain at least some amount of control. “And who are you?” I ask and at this point my sword arm hangs at my side.
The blonde lets out a laugh. “I am All Might of course! Number one hero of Japan! You must have heard of me.”
All Might? Heroes? Japan? My head swirls with confusion. “Um, no I have not.”
All Might’s smile seems to falter for a moment and I swear I heard the flaming one snicker.
“Um, well, please follow Endeavor and I while we take you for questioning. Public quirk use is illegal as well as uncertified weapons.” He gestures to the sword in my hand.
“Police?” I mumble to myself but still follow.
“I believe it means the authorities. Slaughter them before they take you- I advise you should follow them.”
Well I guess he’s still bugged. I was hoping the Void trip would get rid of his loose screws. I follow the two towering men and listen to their conversation.
“Why do we both have to go?” Endeavor grumbles.
“Because a sentient robot just fell out of the sky without an ounce of visible damage. You may go on your merry way after we hand her over to Eraserhead.” All Might sighs.
I follow them and I look at my surroundings. The buildings are so tall, they remind me of the sleek corpus ships. I feel exhaustion weighing on my real body and I long for my transference chair. We seem to have arrived at our destination because Endeavor immediately dips.
All Might looks down at me as someone approaches us. “Follow Eraserhead inside and don’t cause trouble.” If I had eyes to roll, I would be doing that.
I turn my attention to the scruffy looking man he called Eraserhead. He gestures to follow and I do. I pass by ‘police officers’ and ‘detectives’ as Eraserhead calls them until we go into a windowless room with a metal table and chairs. I hesitate a moment. Would it be weird if I left my warframe? Whatever, I need to recharge. I transference out of my warframe.
I sit heavily down, my messy brown hair falling over my face and I attempt to move it. Eraserhead is frozen in place, looking between me and my warframe that's standing up on its own. Luckily I don’t have Excalibur Umbra or he’d really flip out.
I stretch my limbs out a bit as Eraserhead sits down with a shake of his head. This chair is nowhere near as comfortable as my chair but it's nice to materialize to my own body again. I look up as the door opens and a plain looking man with black hair enters and sits down next to Eraserhead.
“Sorry for the short notice Eraser, but it was sudden.” The man says.
“Just get on with it, Tsukauchi.” Eraserhead huffs in annoyance.
The two of them look at me and I yawn. “I'm legally required to tell you this. My quirk is Lie Detector so I am able to detect lies from your speech.” He explains.
I sit up. “About that, what is a ‘quirk’?” I ask.
Tsukauchi sputters and Eraserhead squints. “Quirks are superpowers that eighty percent of the population has.”
“Fascinating. I wonder if they got it in the same way as you Operator.” Ordis says loudly from my warframe.
I jumped a little at the loudness. “Ordis! You scared the crap out of me. Turn your volume down.”
“Yes Operator.” He says in a much more reasonable tone.
The two of them stare at my suit with a mix of confusion and hesitancy. The detective points at my warframe. “Care to explain who that is?”
“I am Cephal-” Ordis starts.
“Ordis!” I say and kick my warframe. It doesn’t move but it makes me feel a bit better. I rub my hands down my face. “That is Cephalon Ordis, or just Ordis. He is, or was, my ship's AI. He’s also a bit buggy.” I sigh. “And talkative.”
I blink at them. “Oh right.” I extend a hand. “My name is Mira and I believe I am in the wrong reality.”
