Agents of Change

Summary:

"Did you know? Your hands are the agents of change. Every time I go to see movies, when a character in them, is in a middle of realising something about themselves, they look and their hands and say something like... 'What have I done?' or something like that. I wonder, what do you think, when you look, habitually I might add, at your hands like that?"

"I..."

"Don't bother! It's no fun when a character just reveals his motivations like that!... I'd rather guess."

~~~~
An Error-centric story about changing yourself I think. Oh and the Star Sanses don't exist in this one. Oh and Error's working with Dream now. Oh and Ink is morally flexible grey opportunist – otherwise a bitch (that I fucking love(I like my man morally grey/downright evil, aye?)) Kind of a mix between FGoD and other fics that are alike, but I add some stuff I like, and pretend like I know what I'm doing. Enjoy?
(Sitirro watched 'Therapist Plays Slay the Princess' and thought 'Wow this game is so cool, and the writing is so amazing, it lowkey inspires me to write my own story, that I'll may or may not abandon after the prologue. You know what? Fuck it let's do it!')
Chapter 1: Prologue
Notes:
What am I doing with my life–
Hi, I'm Sitirro, and this is my first work on Ao3! ... Well not really but the other one I miserably deleted after just a three days of existence, but I hope this one will at least survive until the next year! I'm cool with any feedback, really, so if you even just want to comment how shitty this fic is feel free to do so! I just want anything at all!!!
Well I hope you enjoy, and I hope I'll finish this!
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
Multiverse. A vast space filled with colourful worlds, ideas, and characters, that filled the vast emptiness of the creativity domain. Its begging was now just a speculation, that was whispered from one inhabitant to another, but it was just an incomplete picture, a puzzle, that the time shredded its colour, so no one could even tell, that it was one to begin with.
You're not part of this world, however. Let me show you a part of the solved puzzle, that will be called the 'beginning'.
The young Multiverse was stagnant. It was dull. Worlds were repetitive, devoid of any meaning, the characters, even if created from the beautiful original story, locked uniqueness, became a dull copy, of a copy of, a copy. The need of change became lost. The need of happiness became lost. The need of struggle became lost. Any values became nothing. The Multiverse had started rotting, and it would not, could not let itself die.
It needed entertainment. It needed change... It needed a challenge.
It knew what to do, after all it was not the first multiverse, that was made from the love of the Undertale. It shrunk itself to a finite size, then it slashed the space between the worlds into two domains, the Void and the Anti-Void. Then it was time for the rest of the aspects of life to part into two. Life and Death. Harmony and Chaos. Negativity and Positivity. Creation and Destruction.
It created a balance.
At the beginning it was fine, but the Multiverse quickly realised that it was not enough. It needed a push.
Corruption became the answer. It was an unfortunate part of life, that once was only saw as a bothersome, but inevitable errors of code, that was easily put down by the Protector, but the Multiverse finally found a fitting way to use them.
The Anti-Void became a birthing place for corruption. When there was too much corruption in the Anti-Void, the corruption would unleash on worlds, bringing destruction and despair, bothering the balance. Becoming a challenge to overcome.
It was a good start, but it was still not the end. After all, someone needed to guard the balance.
First one of its loyal workers, was the Protector himself. Gifted with the power of Creation, his role was to bring to life creative and interesting stories, and protecting the mission given by the Multiverse.
The guardians of Life and Death were an easy pick. With the help of Creator, the universe of gods was created. The Multiverse was not interested in this balance. Its state was not essential to the entertainment value.
The Multiverse nor Creator created guardians for the Harmony and Chaos balance. They both knew the mortals will manage to fill those two in the future.
Then it was time for balance of emotions. It was a tricky thing; Multiverse did not know this then. Mortals were such an irrational things. Just a little push in the wrong way would end in a catastrophic and irrevocable result. The emotions were a delicate thing, that pushed mortals to do things beyond its comprehension. Multiverse discovered it the hard way, when creating stage. After gifting the twin brothers their job and power, the Multiverse needed to create a conflict. Something to drift the brothers away, to create an imbalance in the emotional balance... Corruption. But not to corrupt the brothers, no. The corruption of their environment.
Multiverse quickly got to work. The Creator had formed a village nearby the tree. The villagers were not formed yet, their characters still waiting for development. Multiverse carefully put corruption in the code responsible for judgment and empathy, only leaving the egocentric characteristics behind. If it could, it would probably leave a bad taste on its tongue, but the Multiverse could not feel, and the end justified the means.
The Multiverse could feel that it was running out of time. Too quickly, way faster than its calculations. Wasting not even a minute, it took one of the Sanses in the Anti-Void, barely even giving him it's job. It was finally done. The Multiverse could feel that now it's inhabitants and their worlds will finally live.
With its last power, the Multiverse restarted itself.
The inhabitants finally felt alive. With the newfound coherence that emotions gave them, they started to aspire, miss things, get angry, even make immoral and heroic gestures. They could feel wrath of the consequences. The joy of life and dread for death, or perhaps even the opposite, filled with people with urgency, but also with purpose.
The once dull universes were finally filled with exciting stories to tell. One sad, one happy. The corruption attacked randomly never putting a rest mind to inhabitants. They were getting anxious, but also more curious. About not just the corruptions, but the world itself. Were they alone? What about the timelines? What's in the void? Is there a way to find out more? Go somewhere even deeper? Far, far away? Then it finally happened. A first contact between the universes happened.
If the Multiverse could, it would've sighed with relief. It knew that the rest would figure out itself. For now, it went to slumber, to regenerate itself, leaving the world to be not knowing yet, what consequences its own actions will lead to the world itself...
Notes:
I don't think I'll survive this Christmas break at this point–
This prologue is honestly pretty ass tbh, and short. The first chapter is better I think so I suggest to to think of them as a one chapter, but idk... I'll probably rewrite it after I'll have better grasp at the story I want to tell.
But seriously have like no exceptions for this. It will make me less stressed this way.
... Also I just realised that I can get hit by the Ao3 curse lmao. Man, better to stop with jaywalking now...
