Maybe you’re born with a natural ability that makes you excel in one of the main subjects. People can try and be the best at other subjects but they can only be either average or bad. Some people though are born to be naturally average/bad at the main 4 subjects but they can excel at other things if they try (Suki is good at fighting because she grew up that way, Sokka is good at and interested in engineering ect.) Subject masters can also get good at these sorts of things but usually don’t because they don’t see the point. Water = science, earth = history, fire = math and air = english. The avatar in this world can excel at all 4 main subjects but the math teacher at the most prestigious of all high schools (Sozin) decided it was unfair and made it his entire goal that only math masters remain at the school OR all other subject masters never excel in their subject. After he became the principal he began his plan. The avatar was the only one who could stop him but he KILLED the first one in this vicious cycle, an original history subject master, buried the body and covered it up. Then the next avatar came and after Sozin found out he killed him too. Then Katara a 14 year old Science master and her brother Sokka a 16 year old (aged up for romance side plot because fuck you that’s why) non-subject master that loves engineering, find a 12 year old boy named Aang that is the new avatar. Now they have to protect him from the new principal, Ozai Sozin’s grandson before he kills Aang too. They also have to help him get better at all the other subjects, Katara could teach him Science but they also needed to get him a history, math and (somehow) get him an English teacher because Ozai had killed them all and made sure no others got close to the school. Can they do it? Even with a persistent math master named Zuko chasing them around trying to disrupt Aang’s learning at all costs.
