Notes:

I apologies for any inconsistencies in the tense and pov.
only the first little part is in first person sorry about that. I just didn't have a better idea on how to write that.
We hope you enjoy
no idea when you'll get an update though
Also we our awear that we have inaccuracy's as to witch currency buys what. But it works better for the story this way.

Chapter 1: First contact

Summary:

welcome to Cascade
Gem and the Scots get acquainted with each other.

Notes:

Fyi its only the first 500 words of this fic that the pov is weird it shifts into the normal fanfiction pov after that. You don't have to read it, you just will be confused later. Its just some quick world building and just sets up the story.

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Once it was peaceful, all of the colors lived in harmony. Then White attacked us, or at least that's what we were told. The scouts say that White brutally stabbed one of our vice-admirals. What really happened is lost to time.

Eight teams all live on their island with their master bed. As long as your master bed is intact you can live on. Why the Aqua vice-admiral didn’t respawn we don't know, the master bed isn’t gone and the bed that they were tasked to defend was intact.

Because of that we charged White in retaliation, and after that fighting became common. The only place that no fight has ever happened was the Lobby. Why it's called the Lobby we don't know, it's inscribed in unbreakable stone. We don't know why, but you can't hit or kill anyone in the Lobby, so that's where the school was built.

But what happened before doesn't matter, this is my story. My ID is Geminitay, I am Aqua just like my family before me, and I have finally made it through boot camp.

Today I get my own team, my own bed to protect and my own squad just like those who came before me. One day I’ll be a captain just like my dad. I made it top of my class, got into boot camp and graduated on track. Tomorrow I will finally get to serve my life purpose, by fighting. And to put those filthy, no good, cheating, back-stabbing, bed-breaking, treaty-breaking, bastard Whites in their place.

Tonight we head out, to Cascade, the place we'll probably call home for the rest of our lives, or until we get a map reset caused by draw. But with the war out there I wouldn't count on us making it that far. And anyways those who make it to a draw are never the same after. They go crazy, most kill themselves, poisoning themselves after so much exposure to the other colors. Either we kill them all or they kill us. Even if I don't make it home I will do whatever it takes to keep my family safe. As long as we have the master bed they will be fine. The bed's only safe if no one can get to it, and as long as we have at least one bed on a map out there we have an impenetrable barrier no one but Aqua can get through.

That's why it's so important to defend the beds on the maps. If you can dispose of the other colors your bed will be safe for two years. After the two year period the maps reset and all the other beds return.

The Lobby may seem like a peaceful place, but it's no cakewalk. People of different colors can intermingle together, but those who get too friendly are shunned as traitors. After all, how could you be friendly with the monsters that kill your own. That's why I'm glad to be assigned with Smajor1995 and ImpulseSV, I'm not familiar with them, but they're solid soldiers from what I've heard. The sort of people who would rather die than ever become filthy turncoats.

And so it was time to set off. 24 soldiers all in a skylobby above Cascade. 3 of each color, Gray to the left of White, Pink to the left of Aqua, and everyone else stood on the sidelines. Smajor1995 glanced to their right at ImpulseSV and then to their left at Geminitay. While there were no official alliances— every color for their own— Gray had for the most part taken White's side; and in turn with Pink typically getting into it with Gray, they had taken Aqua's.

Gem wouldn't say that Pink was a particularly active team, be it in allyship (even if they weren't actually allies), attacking, or even defense. It was more of Gray that was an instigator. And if Gray liked to hang with White it made sense for Pink to help out the only team brave enough to stand against White.

The Pink squad was comprised of 3 guys, all with the signature pink eyes. The White team had two boys and one girl clad in white, her amor shining like a pearl. The Gray team was made up of 2 gray eyed boys and one girl with red hair.

Out of the corner of Gem's eye movement clad in green caught her notice. While the team didn't look like much the one who seemed most shifty bore a streak of green in his brown hair.

No more time to evaluate the competition. The sky clock awakened, counting down from 15 in flashing yellow.

Then they appeared in their new home. It was made mostly of white marble, not particularly homey, but it would do. Smajor headed out to go stand by the bed. Gem along with Impulse headed to the iron droppers to start collecting and get a bed defense down asap.
Leaving Impulse behind, Gem went to talk to the piglin shopkeep. Not that they really said much but 16 wool was purchased. Heading out front Gem began to build around the bed while Smajor watched the horizon. One infront, one behind, two to the left, two to the right, one atop the wool at the front and then three along the remaining lengh of the bed.

Nodding to each other Gem equipped their wooden sword and jumped atop the bed defense, while Smajor headed back inside.

It was another 4 hours before Impulse came out with more wool.

"Hey Gemini," he called, "what do you think about making the bed defense a cube? Smajor also thought building out two blocks around the front so we have more room would be a good idea."

Nodding her head in agreement she jumped off the bed to meet him.
"Sounds like a solid idea, then when under attack we're less likely to fall off," Gem responded, before quickly grabbing some of the wool from him and getting to work.

——————- 2 days later———————-

It was Yellow, those rat ass mustard-colored bastards. They were on Aqua before they even knew they were there. Two days into deployment and already fighting like Herobrine himself was upon them. One of the attackers landed on top of the bed, the other went for Scott. He went down fast, Scott's head flying from his shoulders, sliced straight through the chainmail like it was a baked potato. The bed was protected by a cube of wool and it was two against two, Aqua had time; that was until the one that had landed on top equipped a pickaxe.

Sharing a glance, Impulse lunged for the dandelion fuck on the ground, while Gem began to tower up to get to the corn-colored miner on top. The pop of someone vanishing from existance rang into the air. Either Gem was screwed or Impulse was right behind her to help. She didn't have time to check, her focus was on stabbing the living daylights out of the cheese-colored bastard trying to get her bed.

*crack*
And he was gone. Quickly filling in the hole Gem turned around to face the person towering up behind her. Beady yellow eyes stared out from under a mustard helmet. Raising their swords, the two began to circle each other, aqua eyes meeting yellow.

(insert western music here, dun dun wha wha )

Like a flash the yellow player lunged, but Gem quickly parried and jumped before he cut her head off. He turned and lunged again, missing Gem's shoulder as she twisted but sending his blade deep into her calf. Cursing and sputtering, Gem fell to the ground in agony, the quiet pop of someone respawning barely audible to her ears. The last thing she saw was a sword tip coming straight for her face.
-----------------------------
It was a risky plan that Scott had devised, but it would work. It had to. That was too close of a call. They almost lost their bed with all of them having been killed, Scott only just respawning in time to take out the last attacker. That was unacceptable, they had to last longer and if they wanted to live they would need better armor. And to get armor they would need diamonds.

Gem would bridge out to the main island, Impulse would follow behind guarding and acting as a scout while bridging. The two would make their way to the closer diamond generator, then they would head back to the bridge together and hand all the diamonds to one who would immediately sprint back across. The other would head back slower, breaking the bridge as they went. Scott would stay behind and guard the base in case anyone tried to use the bridge while they were gone.

The plan had been moving smoothly, the bridge was successful. Diamonds were gathered, with no one in sight. Gem looked at Impulse for confirmation that they had both picked up the diamonds. After a brief nod from Impulse the two set off.

It was going well, too well, Gem thought to themself. Then out of the corner of their eye, they saw it. Coming in from above, dropping down like a panther clad in white.

"Impulse look out!" Gem screamed.

But it was too late. Steel sword through the chest, and Impulse popped out of existence like he was never there to begin with. And there she was, that ugly bitch. Clad in white, long brown hair, piercing aqua eyes, and bloody all over.

We weren't doing anything wrong. Notch we weren't even a threat to their bed. We just wanted the diamonds, we were just trying to get back to our bed. And she just killed him, literally stabbed him in the back. That's what White is know for though; bloody, relentless, murderous bastards that you can't trust as far as you can throw them.

Gem gripped her sword, meeting the eyes of the monster who just murdered her teammate, aqua eyes staring at each other. After what felt like an eternity but was probably no more then 10 seconds White turned. The second they broke eye contact she ran like a cow set on fire by flint and steel. Gem just stared at where the white player had been standing, confused. She didn't kill me, or threaten me, she didn't even try.

For once not wanting to push their luck, Gem turned and sprinted back towards their bridge. Scott met her when she got back to base, before he headed out onto the bridge to begin breaking it down. Gem went to talk to the villager, they needed armor first, then she could think about what in Jeb's name that white player was doing. That white player with Aqua eyes…..

And then they heard it. A sickening sound, a loud beat. Bright yellow letters flashed across the sky.

"GREEN BED DESTROYED BY TEAM BLUE"

Only a few days in and it finally, truly sunk in with Team Aqua that they were probably all going to die.
