Chapter 1: Pious at a young age

Chapter Text

As the heavy snowflakes fall from the clouds to the ground, causing a very icy cold mess of white. A pondering child seemed to look out the window, looking at how they tip so elegantly, the child looked up at his mother, and asked curiously “Why does it snow when it gets cold, mama?" the mother simply replies with "Because of precipitation. Water evaporates and it reaches the clouds, and when it gets cold, it either rains or snows, depending on how cold it is. The mother sounded so sweet about it, so calm and kindly. Gueira was so lucky to have a mother like her, and a family as a whole, no one missing. Gueira couldn’t help but to ask “Why does that happen, who made that happen?”, the mother placed a shoulder on her son, and smiled while she said “God, a wonderful being who has created the Earth. We believe in him and pray to him, he always will be there to guide us, Gueira.” Gueira’s eyes widened a little, amazed by the concept of God, maybe the reason why he’s so protected was because of God..”Thank you, God!” he said cheerfully, his mother couldn’t help but smile.

“Sweetie, don’t you think you have to go to sleep? It is pretty late.” his mother suggested, then the happy cheerful teenager blurted out, “okay mama!”.

He went to his room which was pretty small, but really could care less. At least he has one, and he has to be grateful for that, God was the one who granted him such fortune, some even suffered more than he did. He went and lay down on his mattress that had no bed frame but still was cozy. He pulled his blanket over him, to protect him from the villainous cold. He closed his eyes after thanking God for giving him the bare-minimum, he was so grateful that he had all this fortune in his life, but felt that it was all seemingly useless. If he cannot show how grateful he is for all of this he was given, then how will he be loved and treated with fairness, how will he be seen as someone not selfish? He quickly brushed away the guilt, he couldn’t be thinking so lowly and negative of himself and how the World would view him, not to mention he really didn’t see anyone besides his family, he doesn’t go to school, but he doesn’t know why, sometimes he’d look out his bedroom window and observe the children playing without him, he couldn’t help but feel a tad bit sad. Gueira’s mind also went back to a memory from two days ago when it was night, when Gueira was supposed to be asleep but wasn’t. He only overheard some words and statements but couldn’t make out the rest, it sounded like his parents were bantering, he really hated it when he overheard arguments, it made his heart beat a bit quicker than usual, sometimes it wouldn’t be arguments, and it was just his parents or uncle talking, but that still would make him anxious. Gueira closed his eyes, tonight it seems like he won’t overhear anything, and he liked that, he liked the peace and quiet where nobody will bother him, especially during his sleeping or napping time, the young teenage boy closed his sleepy drowsy eyes to fall into a wonderful sleep, only to be awakened by a loud thud, it was harsh and unkind, the horrific loud thud came back a second time, but eventually his sweet mother went to unlatch the door for the man who is unruly with his knocking, no way in the Earth is that a woman knocking, after the door opened, and a conversation has immediately began, Gueira slipped out of his mattress silently and dared to not make a singular word, he pressed his ear near the door to listen to what their saying, Gueira only heard half of the conversation unfortunately, he could hear the delightful voice of his mother, and the barbarous tone of the other man.

“Madam! Perchance have you seen any burnish grunts?”

“No I haven’t, and what is a burnish..?”

“My fair lady, a burnish is a cruel person with the ability to light up fire from their hands, they are extremely dangerous, and we, as Freeze Force, must capture them before any other innocent member of our community gets injured by those wicked offenders!”

“Oh that’s horrible! But I am sorry I haven’t seen any of those burnish grunts, if I see one, I will inform you, may I have the number of Freeze Force?” “Of course my lady, it's 909, if anything happens please pick up the receiver. Bye”

“Bye, thank you for informing me.”

Gueira overheard their conversation, it was making him puzzled, why do burnish exist if their only job is to destroy and compete? Gueira snapped out of his thoughts as soon as he heard the door shut and bolted, Gueira went back to his mattress and rested on it, he really kept thinking, do horrible people actually exist? Nobody is born evil though, so they must’ve gone through something, but what is that something they went through? Poverty? Abuse? Loneliness? It really made him worried…what if he bumps into one of the burnish grunts and he gets hurt? Or even worse, brutally murdered. He instantly stopped what he was thinking about, why is he thinking horribly of the burnish? It really is obvious that they went through something unhinged, he quickly rested his red eyes that glint orange in the sunny shade, and they may also have a burning spirit of purples and blues.
