Chapter Text

Adam was not aware of the being whom possessed him. One day, he had said yes to something he could not see or perceive, and ever since then, Adam has lost time more than once.

He even found himself in different places. Once, he had found himself in a random city, confused by his whereabouts. No one seemed bothered that he felt out of place. They were perfectly okay to mind their business while he was trying to figure out where he was. Another time, he was standing on top of a building. He did not know how he had gotten up there, and was too afraid to even speak simply because there was no railings, and he was bound to slip right off the glass. What made it worse was that it was night time, and no one would probably see his predicament until he hit the cement below.

How he even managed to get off the building was confusing to him, because the next time he had some awareness, he was standing on a beach, staring off at the crashing waves and white foam, the sun was beginning to rise. He was wearing his usual clothing, but his socks and shoes were set to the side where they wouldn't meet the ocean. His pant legs were rolled up a bit.

Maybe that was an apology for bringing him to such a tall building, freaking him out. Adam didn't know what to even say, watching the sunrise made him feel better.

At least, that's what he was mostly expecting until he started to watch the days and weeks go by. One time, six months had disappeared, and Adam couldn't believe it. He was utterly shocked as he counted the months of the last time he had been aware.

No. No, you took too much time from me!

Another apology came when two weeks had gone by, and Adam figured that was enough. Then he appeared on a cruise liner in the middle of the ocean, the people on board weren't bothered by Adam standing around on the main deck, confused once more as to where he even was, and how he was able to get on it. He spent a few hours on the boat, enjoying the fact it was his first time ever.

Whatever this being was, it never told him its name. But it was obviously extremely powerful if it could teleport him to random places. What it did, Adam never truly knew the reason. But six months was the only time it took since Adam had been upset over the chunk of his life. Beyond that, he was never harmed or even sick since, and sometimes, Adam ate food even if he wasn't craving it.

After a year of dealing with this, Adam had strangely found his way home via a bus and decided to look through his mother's belongings. She had died not too long before he had decided to say yes to this strange being, and Adam hoped that…maybe someone knew what was going on with him. He eventually found a number inside a notebook, and he read a few entries. His mother didn't continue her notes until after her last contact with the man that Adam recalled as his father. He had only seen the man a few times in his life, but not enough to really think of…as a father.

Adam had talked to a man on the phone, and he told him where to meet. A small diner a few miles from where he was. He had gone to meet with them, almost thinking that he would be taken over by the being, but the bus ride there was mostly boring and pleasant than waking up in random places all over the world. He was kind of getting used to the heat and random conversations he had with the bus driver and sometimes, restuarant employees.

He had no idea what he was going to expect as he entered the diner and spotted two men in their possible mid-thirties. Handsome, and somewhat reminding Adam of John. At least of the photo's of John, they had the same coats he'd possibly choose to wear if he was still around.

"Adam?" the tallest one spoke, rising from the booth and taking his hand.

"Yeah," Adam said, smiling sheepishly, and they both sat down.

"You said you were John Winchester's son?" the other asked, guarded, annoyed, but straight to the point.

Adam nodded. "Yes. I…I haven't seen him in awhile. Not since I was twelve."

"He's dead," the man said, his eyes remained fixed on Adam while the other seemed uncomfortable.

He quickly learned they were Sam and Dean Winchester. Sons to John Winchester. The three of them being unaware of each other's existence.

"My mother is dead," Adam said after the explanations, nodding his head as he drank the cup that had been ordered. Some sort of juice, but it had an odd taste to it. He didn't think much of it since the diner wasn't in a known town, small with a few streets. Maybe even inconspicuous, which seemed correct in some way.

"We did some research after you called," Dean said, sitting back. "How did she actually die?"

Right, her death…it was far brutal than Adam had wanted to remember. He had glanced away, shaking his head slightly. He almost wanted to forget what it was.

"Some…people came into the house and murdered her," Adam said, swallowing thickly. "I think…I would've been next, you know. I wasn't, of course…I escaped. But she died from an apparent animal attack, which wasn't at all, an animal attack."

"Do you know what it was?" Dean asked. He was still guarded, maybe even upset. Adam couldn't blame him, how could their father hide this whole thing from them. But the man was also dead and has been for two years.

"No. I…I don't know…"

"From what we could understand, it was a Ghoul attack," Sam said, and he went about explaining why it happened.

Maybe Adam hadn't wanted to know the truth, that his father loved his mother, but the way they met is the reason she died. And the reason Adam was all over the place ever since.

"Why did you call?" Dean asked.

"Oh…uh, I was hoping to get answers, not just for my mother but for another reason," Adam said, taking another sip of the juice. It still tasted strange, but he didn't think much of it since taking a bite of his burger that he ordered.

"And what reason would that be?" Sam asked.

They weren't eating, and were simply watching him eat on his own. He felt a little self-conscious, even if he had no actual craving. It made him feel normal.

"I think something really powerful is possessing me."
