Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

[Hyrule castle, 101 years after the calamity]

"This is it. It's the end. We finally got to the castle. Ganon... You gonna pay for what'cha did to my friends..."

Link, fallen hero, and his travelling companion, an hylian who could turn into a wolf, were finally arriving to Hyrule castle, enormous palace dominating Hyrule field, from which a dark purple smoke was coming from, telling the world that Ganon was resting here.

The calamity, the one who, hundred years ago, destroyed the kingdom, sending it's army everywhere, controlling guardians.

This fateful day, this day when Ganon had awoken, Link lost everything. His companions, the champions including his fiancée Mipha, his family...

His life...

Someone brought him to the [healing sanctuary], and during hundred long years, his wounds were being healed, until he could wake up, and finally fulfill his role as a hero.

What no one could have predicted though, was that this long coma had erased the hero's
memory.

Seeing that, the goddess Hylia, white Goddess and protector of the Triforce, sent an help to the young Link, an help taking the shape of a blue-eyed beast, who could turn into a hylian.

An help named Link too.

A hero.

Together, the two companions defeated Ganon's 4 blights who were controlling the divine beasts, relics from a ancient past, which were created to kill the calamity. Link also remembered some of his memories, in which he was with his friends, friends who died because of Ganon, and that je could never bring back to life.

It's with this rage in mind the young hero was facing the front doors of Hyrule castle, last
obstacle between him and his vengeance.

He ran on the path leading to the main quarters, followed by his "friend", Wolf, nicknames like that because being both Link was easily confusing.

Suddenly, Link was stopped by a blue light above his head. Wolf grabbed him, and pull him so he could dodge another laser from the guardian before them.

- Go on Link, go to the throne room to fight Ganon! I'll hold them back!

- Ya sure?! They're too many, ya won't-

- Don't worry about me, it's our only chance, so go, now!

The hero ran to the throne room, letting his companion behind. He could hold those guardians back, he was strong after all! He would easily defeat them right?

Finally arriving to the main quarters, place where was what supposedly was Ganon's prison, Link felt bad. The same way as he felt when he saw the castle, far far away, from the tower of the great plateau.

A mix of melancholy, sadness and... Fear. What if he wasn't strong enough? What if he didn't train enough? If he lost again, what would happen? What If...

No, he didn't have enough time to think about that! Ganon's cocoon was breaking, and a weird-shaped creature fell from it, crashing on the floor, breaking the ground, opening a long forgotten path to a secret room, probably once used for astrology.

The broken pieces of the floor fell inside, bringing Link with them. The knight took his paraglider just on time to avoid crushing on the ground and die from a pathetic fall.

The calamity got up, raising it's arm, in which was a blue blade, probably an archeonic one, like the guardians it possessed. It started to aim it's attack in Link's direction, but the hero dodged it.

The young man ran toward Ganon, but was stopped by a spear, the exact same one as the one the windblight used against him. This demon was taking it's minions' attacks?! This battle would not be a piece of cake...

Trying to hit the monster, without any success, Link was projected several times against the
walls of the arena, and felt like he was losing consciousness.

He got up, once again, to find himself face to face with the demon, who was going to shoot it's guardian laser.
But he never could finish aiming it's shoot, because when the shoot was going to escape from the cannon, a blue light coming from above the the room crushed on the monster.

The champions' ghosts had finally attacked.
Link was waiting for this since the beginning of the battle, and ran into Ganon, the master sword in his hand. He jumped, and stuck his blade into Ganon's skull.

The calamity screamed, just before teleporting away, out of the castle, gloom going out of it's
body. The hero followed, transported by a golden light, probably coming from princess Zelda's sealing magic.

He found himself in the vast Hyrule field, just before an enormous mass of gloom, slowly shape-shifting into Ganon's true form, a giant boat, with a big eye on the head. Eye, the princess told Link, by telepathy, as she already did several times before, that was probably the creature's weakness. A light blessed bow appeared on the hero's hands.

A bow that didn't need arrows.

Link ran toward the creature, trying to shoot a projectile in its eye.

But, at the moment he was aiming his bow, Ganon shot a purple light beam right towards the knight, who was ejected some meters away. During an instant, he felt like he was dying again, but this feeling stopped right away, while Mipha's ghost, the Zora champion, was slowly fading away.

His old companion saved him.

Well, no, not really.

Ganon's attack had cracked the ground into rocks, which were now falling. Right when a rock was going to crush the hero, Daruk's ghost appeared too, protecting him with his unbreakable shield.

Now, Link was ready. He jumped towards the rocks still in the air, and with the help of Urbosa's ghost and her lightning powers, he succeeded to make a path leading to the skies.

He still wasn't high enough to shoot a light arrow in Ganon's eye, when his rival, Revali, appeared, helping him with his gale, sending the knight into the sky, at the perfect high.
He shot.

An arrow shining with a strong golden light pierced the monster, and, while it was dying, it freed Zelda, who, using her sacred powers, sealed it, forever.
