“Can you hear the music in the harbor from here?”
Xiao turned around. Aether was behind him, smiling.
“I said, ‘can you hear the music from here’.” He repeated. They were quite a ways from the harbor. Not that it mattered to him, he could hear it fine.
“Of course I can.” Xiao answered. “Why is that important?”
“Come here.”
Aether held his hands out towards Xiao, who obliged. He took a couple steps back, then a step forward. Xiao stumbled along with him.
“What are you doing?” Xiao asked.
“Dancing!” Aether remarked. “Haven’t you ever danced before?”
Xiao pursed his lips and exhaled from his nose. His way of laughing.
“You’re doing it wrong.”
Xiao pulled Aether a little closer, overtaking the lead role. It took him a little bit, but soon they were no longer stumbling about the mountaintop like idiots.
When he was sure Aether wasn’t going to trip, he threw in a twirl. Unfortunately, Aether still managed to trip and bring them both to the ground.
“What was that?!” He laughed as he sat up.
“I should ask you the same thing.” Xiao dusted himself off and stood up. “There aren’t even any rocks up here to stumble over.” Despite his annoyed tone, he held his hand out to help Aether up.
