Every morning they met in the cafeteria, Adler with muesli, Ulrich with a cup of coffee.
The Sudoku in the newspaper marked the first battleground of the day, often evolving into a near fist fight. Adler purposefully filling the grids with wrong numbers, ignoring Ulrich’s suggestions. Ulrich ripping Adler’s pen out of his hands and aggressively scribbling the right answers on top.
The entire affair never took longer than 10 minutes, when Ulrich left for work and Adler, muesli on his lap, newspaper torn apart, could be seen smiling.
Not happy that Ulrich left, but that he had been there.
