Work Text:
Tim got dumped. Badly.
And he was doing the one thing that meant he wouldn't just bed rot for the next two months. He was making it everyone else's problem. Kind of.
He didn't want to do anything. Not patrol, not work, just not exist for a bit.
He went out a few times, both as Red Robin, and as his public figure, but only when he didn't feel like crying his eyes out on his bathroom floor.
And when he didn't go out? Well, he found comfort in sitting on the floor, his head again the wall, and usually outside one of his siblings bedrooms, so he knew he was safe.
It ft dumb as hell when he first started doing it, but when he feel asleep outside of Dick's room, and woke up at three AM with his blanket over his shoulders and thermos of still warm coffee beside him, the insomniac couldn't not feel touched.
It was better than roaming the manor during the witching hour, or staying up staring at his phone, waiting for a text that would never come. So, he kept doing it.
First, Damian found him at 1 am against the wall opposite his room after he came back from a solo patrol. He told Alfred but otherwise left his older brother alone.
Then Bruce found him the night after. It hurt him a bit, knowing his second youngest was struggling, struggling to the point where he could only sleep if he was near a family member. Bruce had picked him up gently, as though you would a toddler, bringing Tim back to the teens funky little pintrest core bedroom.
When Dick found him at like 2 pm, half asleep, just outside the kitchen, while mid conversation with Jason since the pair were visiting for some reason or another (Neither had the decency to say why they were back), he just sat down beside him, and continued talking, like nothing was wrong.
Slowly, slowly, Tim's need for the security blanket that sleeping near his siblings give him started to decrease.
He started sleeping in his room more, and Steph was able to convince him to go to the Young Justice Cave, just to check on how his team was doing.
They would probably be a little pissed that Tim had left Steph in charge of them.
But the again, he always left Steph in charge when he wasnt around, mainly because she refused to tell them why he wasnt there, any other of his siblings would fold like a peice of paper when it came to the concern Tim's team had for him.
Tim had agreed to go with Steph to the cave exactly a month after it all, and only one one condition.
He didn't have to go as Robin.
He could go as just Tim.
And so, when the pair walked through those zeta tubes, Steph was willing holding the boy's hoodie, while he was just in an old The Hollow tshirt, cargo trousers, his combat boots and his headphones.
His favouite autism uniform, as Tim called it. Well, along with his domino to get past the zeta security.
The moment B12: Robin echoed through the halls, Connor and Bart came running down the halls.
The boys hadn't seen their platonic boyfriend (QPR!!!) for aaaaaaages!! And Tim was back!! Well, back might not have been the right term, but he was here!!
Within literally seconds, Bart was flinging himself at Tim, and Tim did nothing to stop him until they were both on the floor, and Connor was by their side's, a hand under Tim's head to stop it from smashing into the floor.
That, that right there was home for Tim.
---
Steph and Tim had made the deal that if Tim went into the cave, he didn't have to do any work, and he fully intended on following through with that deal, and Steph knew because not wven an hour later, she went looking for him.
She checked the living room, then the kitchen, then she decided to check the dorms.
She found him, of course.
And he was in his room. Asleep. Curled up between Connor and Bart. His duffle bag was at the end of his bed, half filled with stuff he wanted to bring back to the manor.
But seeing him sleeping felt amazing.
And with a quick texted dropped to the rest of the family, Steph left them too it.
Steph <33
He's sleeping, on his own free will <3
