Summary: It’s Valentine’s Day! Everyone is getting chocolates even just friendship chocolates, however Alastor keeps declining those attempts to give him, even the ones that Lucifer tries to give him since they have been dating for a few months now. Author’s Note I am NOT looking for anyone to do commission’s for me. I don’t need anyone to do a commission for me. I love interacting with people in the comments, but I will stop if people keep luring me into a conversation only to ask me for a commission. I do not like refusing people who have a vision in their heads because I don’t have the money to pay for them for the image they have. I feel very guilty so if people keep asking me for commission, I will stop interacting with the comments in general. I already have the comment moderation on because I have gotten random web links in the past from people that my phone did not trust. I do not like having it on but I do for everyone’s protection so please do not force me to take the fan interactions away as well. If some part of my story inspires you to draw a picture, then I’m so happy! If you want to give me credit for the inspiration then that is adorable sweet of you, but I will not pay you for the image. I write my stories for fun and because inspiration has struck me in some places, I do not get paid for them and I ask nothing in return except for you to enjoy the story.
~~Story Begins~~
It was close to Valentine’s Day and Charlie thought it would be a nice bonding exercise with those who have a significant other to do a series of events to lead up to Valentine’s Day where the couples will have a romantic date just for the two of them.
It sounded good in theory, but the Hotel Crew knew that Charlie really just wanted a week to spoil her girlfriend Vaggi, but they weren’t going to complain. The hotel guests also thought it was a good idea as a way to bond with some of the guests who they have gotten along with as well with friendship or if there was more simmering under the surface with them not knowing what exactly it was to give dating a “trial run” so to speak.
It was with that Charlie took a poll over what should the theme for each day leading up to the Valentine’s Day and then took the top twenty results and with the voting of the Hotel Crew to plan the themes for everyone to follow so it wouldn’t be so stress-inducing for those who are nervous about planning dates or gifts.
The hotel crew included; Charlie, Princess of Hell and Bonding Activity Director, Vaggi without the e who is the Front Desk Manager, Lucifer, the King of Hell, the Devil, the embodiment of Pride, Charlie’s father, AND the Hotel Owner/Manager, Alastor, the Radio Demon and Hotelier, Angel Dust, former porn star who was freed from Valentino’s contract twice due to Valentino breaking the contract terms and for forcing Angel Dust to sign the contract when Angel Dust was not able to consciously give his consent (being high on drugs AND being hypnotized voided those contracts) was now the Public Relations Manager, Husk was the Head Bartender and unofficial therapist, Cherri Bomb, while a resident of the Hotel she has taken a temporarily job as Head of Defense (which basically gives her free permission to set up explosives with the help of Angel, Alastor and Lucifer to attack any sinner who is coming to the hotel to attack it or its residents. If they get past the explosions, then Alastor gets to attack), Niffty is the Head of Housecleaning and Pest Control, Baxter is the hotel’s Head of Redemption Researcher and the unofficial Niffty wrangler.
So it wasn’t unusual for chocolate or Valentine’s day cards to be exchanged all throughout the hotel amongst everyone. In fact, some of the residents even took today’s theme of either chocolate or Valentine’s to make Valentine’s Day cards for the crew to thank them for certain things that they would be too shy or nervous to do in a common setting or to confess their feelings by giving the object of their affection chocolate.
There were some troubles like Angel Dust getting a lot of people to confess their love for him in front of Husk and then trying to win the porn star over in front of the bartender even knowing that those two were in a relationships, Cherri’s experimental glitter bomb that exploded with glitter all over the lobby, and the amount of people who were also telling their affections to a very amused Alastor who accepted the Valentine’s Day cards if they were not sexual in anyway. He rejected all the sexual Valentine’s Day cards and everyone’s chocolates.
“You know,” Charlie said to Alastor after another guest had their chocolate rejected from the Radio Demon. “You could accept them and give them to someone else. I think we both know someone who would absolutely love them.”
“My dear, I have learned that if you accept something that most people would consider a friendly gift it could lead to higher demands later on,” Alastor said. “Besides, I feel like my other half, while they would happily accept the chocolates, would not appreciate me taking them from other patrons. He deserves something a lot more than mass produced and heavily marketed chocolates that you could buy anywhere.”
Charlie stared at Alastor with a worried expression on her face.
“So, what are you getting my father for today’s event?” Charlie said.
“I’m getting him nothing,” Alastor said. “Your father is the King of Hell. Whatever he wishes he can buy himself or just summon it into existence. No, what I am doing is that I am going to be making him something. I just can’t do it right now because everyone seems to be using the kitchen, plus I would like for it to be a surprised.”
“Awww, that’s so sweet,” Charlie said.
“Cherri! Angel”
“Speak of the devil and he shall appear,” Alastor said.
They both looked towards the staircase where Cherri and Angel were talking with Lucifer who just ran up to them with a couple of boxes. Charlie saw some movement out of the corner of her eye and looked at her companion whose smile seemed to be forced from the way his ears were laid down against his head and the frown on his shadow.
“A box of chocolates for you Cherri,” Lucifer said, giving her a box that was wrapped in pink paper. “And a box for you, Angel.”
“Thanks Short King, but uh…wouldn’t Smiles be mad?” Angel Dust asked.
“Don’t worry about it. I got him a box of chocolates too,” Lucifer said looking around the hotel spotting the tiny but fast housekeeping. “Ah Niffty.”
“You do remember that he doesn't like sweets, right?” Angel Dust tried to yell out but Lucifer was already talking to an animated Niffty.
“Alastor,” Charlie said softly.
“I told him since we all agreed to this exercise everyday that I do not like sweets, I told him this morning and I even left him a note,” Alastor said as his claws buried themselves into his hands. “I was even ready to make an exception for him if he did give me chocolates because he forgot I don’t care for sweets. No feelings will be spared now since he’s giving everyone chocolates.”
“Can I have a warning of what you plan on doing?”
“Simple. I’m just going to reject the chocolates like I have with everyone else,” Alastor said. “He will still get his surprise later tonight, I’m not that petty. Oh, who am I kidding, I absolutely AM that petty, but not with him.”
“Char-Char! Alastor!” Lucifer said, now running up to them with the last two boxes. “I have Valentine’s Day chocolates for you both.”
“Thanks Dad!” Charlie said, taking her rainbow wrapped box.
“Your Majesty,” Alastor said, forcing his ears to remain still. “I appreciate the sentiment of you giving me chocolates so close to Valentine’s Day, however, I’m afraid I must decline your chocolate offering.”
“Wait, what? Why?” Lucifer asked, looking at the deer demon.
“I detest sweets, Your Majesty,” Alastor said before bending down to be eye level with Lucifer. “I also know my worth and I refuse to accept the same mass produced or mass summoned chocolates that you have given to everyone else who works at the hotel because then the meaning behind the gift is the same meaning as everyone else.”
He stood back up straight and tapped his microphone on the floor twice. Charlie watched in silent wonder as to his shadow splitting into two different Alastor on the floor, one leaving the hotel and the other one blending itself in with her Dad’s shadow.
“Also, I wouldn’t take it too personally, Your Highness,” Alastor said. “It’s been a personal policy of mine since well…ah since I was 18 not to accept any gifts, especially gifts that are seen as friendship gifts. Now, I must hurry and take my leave, the radio broadcast won’t start itself.”
“Dad,” Charlie said.
“Why didn’t he accept my gift? I thought the whole point was to give something to someone who we love?” Lucifer said. “I mean-”
“Dad, Valentine’s Day is usually mass marketed to couples,” Charlie said. “Do you really see anyone else giving someone that isn’t their dating partner a gift of chocolate? Even then, Alastor hates sweets.”
“He doesn’t hate sweets, he never complains about my pancakes when I make them for him,” Lucifer said, pouting and crossing his arms.
“He does hate sweets, Dad, but he doesn’t complain the exact same reason why Vaggi never complains when I try to cook her something and it’s completely inedible. It’s because he loves you,” Charlie said. “Also, imagine how he is currently feeling?”
“Like a stuck up prick who thinks he’s better than everyone else?” Lucifer said.
“Dad,” Charlie said in her warning tone.
“I don’t know Charlie! I haven’t been in a relationship except for when I was with your mother and even then I’m nervous because I still love her. We fell together, we built Hell together, we made you together and she’s my first love. I did everything to make her happy and she still won’t talk to me, but trying this relationship out with Alastor while still wearing my wedding ring with her. I feel conflicted and nervous and terrible because I feel like I’m betraying her. I know that she betrayed me first with everything, and that she’s waiting for me to sign the divorce papers, and that she gave me her ring, but is it so wrong for me to feel like your Mom and I could try to be happy together again?”
“Your feelings matter Dad so no, it’s not wrong for you to feel like this,” Charlie said. “Mom’s feelings also matter and so doesn’t Alastor’s. Mom’s not here right now, she’s still in Heaven enjoying her time in Heaven with her girlfriend Eve. You need to accept that Mom doesn’t want to get back together with you and I know that’s hard, but you are hurting yourself and Alastor.”
“I-”
“I’m still processing it myself and some days I get sad and mad that my parents are splitting apart and no longer being the power royal couple, but at the end of the day, I know that both of your healths matter, physically, mentally, and emotionally. Mom is flourishing with Eve by her side and you are floating but that’s only because Alastor is keeping you above water,” Charlie continued.
She put down her box of chocolates and reached out to grab her Dad’s hands, running her thumbs over his knuckles.
“Let’s look at it from a different perspective, okay?” Charlie said with a smile. “Let’s take Mom and myself out of this scenario. You have never been in a relationship before now and even then the beginning had a rocky start, but even then, this person can have ANYTHING and EVERYTHING they want with just a snap of their fingers so to find a gift that can make that person feel special has to be unique and unexpected, but that it means something. That it shows to your significant other that you see them for them and put thought into the gift.”
“So, like a custom rubber duck?” Lucifer said.
“Yes! Like a custom rubber duck,” Charlie said. “Now you’ve worked hard on the custom rubber duck because it’s a big deal on Duck day, so like everyone is buying something related to ducks to give to their boyfriend, girlfriend, whatever label they want to put on their relationship, but you know that yours is special. You had it customised or handmade it yourself so it wouldn’t be like all the other ducks being given to everyone. Now, one of the many things associated with Duck day is bitter candy and -”
“But I don’t like bitter things!” Lucifer said. “It shouldn’t even be said in the same sentence as candy.”
“Dad, focus!” Charlie said. “You told your partner time and time again that you don’t like bitter things and then the day you have been waiting for arrives. The day you give your partner the customized rubber duck, but you watch them hand out boxes of bitter things to other people and when they get to you, not only is your box the last one they are holding, but it’s filled with bitter candy. How would you feel?”
“Like I wasn’t being seen or heard,” Lucifer said. “Is that how Alastor is feeling right now?”
“No, it’s Alastor. He’s possibly more annoyed with you than anything,” Charlie said, letting go of her Dad’s hands. “He has rejected everyone’s chocolates today and he said he was going to make an exception for you knowing how your mind works, but then we watched you hand out chocolates to Angel Dust, Cherri Bomb, Niffty, and mine before you even reached for him. He has accepted Valentine’s Day cards, but the ones that aren’t sexual and only the ones that are thanking him for whatever services they found with him or something. However Dad, you still hurt him even if it’s just a little bit.”
“I- Your mom always appreciated it when I gave gifts to our closest staff members that I just thought -”
“Alastor isn’t Lilith,” a female deer sinner said as she walked by the father-daughter duo with a stern tone. “You’re doing yourself more harm than good right now Lucifer so either accept the fact that your wife has moved on and try to move on yourself, or cut off this relationship with Alastor so you will quit using him as a crutch for your happiness thus sacrificing his own.”
“Stay out of this,” Lucifer said with a growl.
The female deer just rolled her eyes and walked away. “Shadows below,” they heard her mumble. “I’m so glad my husband has never been like that.”
“What would someone like you know about being a divine being?" Lucifer said with flames coming out of his mouth. “You’re nothing more but a Sinner!”
She tilted her head from side to side as she let out a fake laugh. “Ha, ha, more than what you could possibly ever imagine, your Majesty,” she said. “I’ll be taking my leave. Hopefully you’ll be tall enough to still reach the bottom of the pool when this all explodes in your face.”
“Dad,” Charlie said.
“I know, I know. It’s just that I’ve been alone for so long and now that I have someone again who actually pushes me to be better and to do things,” Lucifer said. “I need to go.”
Charlie watched her father walk away and with Alastor’s hidden shadow at her father’s feet with the way it was frowning, with the ears down, and the way it glitched in and out almost losing its hiding spot, she knew that radio demon wasn’t doing so well either.
It was later that night when the Sinners were leaving to go out on their dates and with it most of the day being spent avoiding Alastor as Lucifer was still annoyed with the Radio Host for rejecting his chocolate from the morning.
(Lucifer knows he screwed up, he knows that, but he is the embodiment of Pride for a reason and he will not admit it. Bambi has never had any trouble or had his feelings hurt because of Lucifer’s pride so why should he start now? Besides, what difference does today’s chocolates make that isn’t like all the other times Bambi has eaten sweet stuff that Lucifer gave him? It’s not like he is Lilith who knew him from before he became fallen or one of the few things that he still has from Eden that he can hold onto that he didn’t give to humanity.)
So, when the opportunity arises when Angel Dust asks if anybody else is going to join them at some bar that has good food, Lucifer joins the group. He ignored the surprised static of a radio nearby or the weary glances of those around him.
“Are you really sure that’s such a great idea?” Husk started to say only to feel a slight warning tug on his neck. “Fine, whatever. I don’t care, it will be your own grave that you are digging. Let’s go.”
In the hotel’s kitchen, tucked into one of the hidden corners once everyone had left, Alastor had his face tucked into someone’s shoulder, staticky sobs filtered through the radios as his body shook. A hand gently ran its claws through Alastor’s hair.
“You are so much like your father,” the other person said in a soothing voice. “Fortunately for him, when he cries he’s a beautiful crier. Unfortunately for you, you inherited my trait of being an ugly crier.”
Canned laughter played.
“Don’t worry, I’m sure he will come to his senses and if he doesn’t,” the voice said. “I want you to know that there are people in Heaven and in Hell that still love you, Alastor and will have your back. The King of Hell won’t know what hit him.”
“Papa?” Alastor asked nuzzling into the shoulder.
“Your father will most definitely give Lucifer hell until you tell him to stop it,” the voice said with a laugh. “But he would never be allowed to be near you ever again. We both won’t allow it, my little fawn.”
Meanwhile at the bar, Lucifer was sitting at the bar counter with an appletini in front of him. He wasn’t drinking it or enjoying the time out. He would have much rather have been back at the hotel where Alastor was and possibly enjoying a nice supper. Honestly, why must his pride prevent him from apologizing unless it came to Lilith or Charlie?
He took a look at his wedding ring and fidgetted it. He knows he should take it off and put it in storage with the other half, the half that Lilith already gave back to him with divorce papers waiting for him to sign. The rings would look beautiful on Charlie and Vaggi and it would be nice to pass them down.
“My, my, why if it isn’t King Lucifer himself,” a voice said that caused Lucifer to look up to see a short human looking sinner come walking to him wearing a sparkling pink dress with matching heels. She had a headpiece that had two pink feathers on it, but it was something about her smile that reminded Lucifer of Alastor. “Why, I haven’t seen ya since I brought those loan sharks over to the hotel for Alastor to gobble up? How have ya been?”
“Uhm…who?” Lucifer said.
“No worries dear, Alastor told me about yer little memory problems,” Mimzy said jumping onto the bar seat next to him. “His pa is the same way so I’m used to having to repeat my name. Hey bartender, can I have a Bee’s Knees please.”
Lucifer blinked.
“Names Mimzy, my dear,” Mimzy said. “A friend of Alastor from when we were alive and still kept that friendship here in Hell only now with a deal thrown into the mix.”
“What does he own your soul as well?” Lucifer asked.
“Naw, I get to have the time of my after-life and in return I give him information. If I get in too much trouble then I run to Alastor for protection which then provides him with either his cannibal supper or new screams for his radio show,” Mimzy said. “It was much the same way as it was when we were alive so we saw nothing that needed to be fixed.”
The bartender sat her drink down.
“Thanks sweet’ums,” Mimzy said, taking a sip of her drink. “Heard through Niffty that the hotel is doing a bunch of themes leading up to Valentine’s Day. Some Baxter fellow made her insects that sang to her a Valentine’s Day song.”
“Did he? That seems awfully sweet of him,” Lucifer said.
“Niffty also told me that the Queen Roach gave her a box of chocolates that was meant for friendship and then proceeded to give one to his daughter and the King Roach,” Mimzy said. “Now, I know Alastor and I know Niffty. Nifty will always dub Alastor has King Roach so did ya give Alastor chocolates as well?”
“Yes, but he rejected them. Charlie said that he’s rejected all chocolates today, but I thought that maybe I would be different,” Lucifer said taking a drink.
“You really well could have,” Mimzy said. “If ya didn’t give one to everyone else in what is assumed to be friendship. Alastor doesn’t accept friendship gifts anymore. He hasn’t since he was 18 nor does he call anyone who he cares about as a friend anymore.”
“Except for you,” Lucifer said.
“Naw, I call him my friend because I haven’t had bad luck with friends like he has who just wants to use him. Like yeah, sure we do use each other like a pair of parasites, but if Alastor is in trouble then I have his back, just like how he has mine.”
“Didn’t he like ban you from the hotel?” Lucifer asked.
“Doesn’t mean I still can’t call upon him to save me in a different location,” Mimzy said.
It was silent for a while and Lucifer's tongue flickered out a little.
“Alastor used to have the biggest sweet tooth I have ever seen on someone,” Mimzy said, startling Lucifer. He looked over to her and saw her tracing her finger over the rim on her glass. “He would accept chocolates, candy, heck even baked desserts if he knew the person and he was always polite about it especially if they were from friends. We were fifteen when we had a new person join our friend group. A cute little girl who was incredibly shy, but because she was white, the other children in the neighborhood wanted to be her friend. It also helped that her Daddy was a doctor who said he didn’t care about the color of his patients, but he did treat the pale ones better than those who were of darker tones. The boys, well, they had a tendency of always asking this girl out on dates and still asking her even if she said no or if she said yes then they wanted a little more action. It was like they thought they had the right to her time, to take her out on dates and you know get a little action from her.”
Mimzy laughed. “Alastor and I didn’t care about her, we were having the best time of our lives going around to the speakeasies and performin every night, evading police. Then one night we were just walking back home, well more like he was walking me back home before he went home himself when we heard a scream in an alley. That’s when we met her, ya’know after some drunk creep saw her walking home from the restaurant after her shift. Turned out, he gave her some pretty nice compliments and left her a pretty big tip which in his mind thought she would give him some of her time after work. Alastor scared him off pretty bad. Hey bartender! Can I get another?”
“Why are you telling me this?” Lucifer asked.
“Where was I? Ah yes! Alastor scared him so bad that he moved to back to Florida, but that’s when we met Hope. Naturally, Alastor and I both walked her home and while her Daddy didn’t trust Al because he was mixed color, Hope’s story and my story lined up with what Al told her Daddy.”
Lucifer raised an eyebrow. “I thought this doctor fellow didn’t care about the skin of his patients?”
“He didn’t, but when it came to his daughter, he was very vocal about the color of their skin,” Mimzy said. “On her days off, she would come hang out with out and it was nice having another lady friend to tease Alastor with. She went to a more private school than ours, but everyone knew that Alastor wasn’t one for relationships of a romantic type. He had a dream of being a radio host and for some reason, he just knew that war was approaching. So he spent most of his time learning about radios, how they ran, operated, could be built, could be used, and different languages. He learned quite quickly that his creole accent wouldn’t get him far and that if he slipped some french phases into his speeches when working at the bars, ladies would blush.”
Mimzy took a sip of her new drink.
“Hope didn’t like it one bit. She didn’t like that Alastor was learning all about radios and languages like he was going to be going to join some war or something. She didn’t like it that whenever she would have a chance to hang out with Alastor, I would be there as well or that we would make sure she got home before we went to our jobs at the Speakeasies. Sweet Alastor was oblivious to her jealously, but I wasn’t. Nope, I told her time and time again that Alastor did not do relationships. He is happy with just being friends and he doesn’t want anything more because he’s too busy for them. The only female on who he would ever clear his schedule for would be for his mother, but Hope? She wouldn’t believe little ole me. She thought I was trying to get in between them because Alastor wouldn’t want anything to do with me once they were dating? HA!”
Mimzy ran her hands down her plump body.
“Look at me, I know I am worth the effort and let me tell ya something. Sweet Al never looked at me like I was some eye candy or a sure thing,” Mimzy said. “Why? I even went up to Hope’s Daddy, told him about Hope’s behavior around Alastor. Naturally, he wouldn’t believe me because his daughter couldn’t do no wrong, but he told me he would look into it. I even warned Alastor, but Alastor looked as confused as a newborn fawn. She’s nothing more but a friend, I haven’t done anything different with how I treat you and here so I don’t fathom on where she thinks I would want, he said not taking me serious.”
“Is there a point to this?” Lucifer said seeing Angel Dust frowning at him and looking between him and his bar companion.
“We were 16 when we first met Hope and for two years, she always gave him a box of chocolates for Valentine’s Day, his birthday, Christmas, she played into his sweet tooth while Alastor remained none the wiser behind the jealously and anger in her eyes. She thought she could get some kind of reaction out Alastor when she dated someone for 3 months, joke was on her. He much preferred my company over her so as soon as I turned 18, he left her, dated me for 6 months before we eloped with Alastor has our witness. It was when we were 18 that Hope had enough and asked Alastor on when he was going to ask her out on a romantic date. Alastor basically told her the same thing that I warned her and her Daddy about, that he doesn’t have the time. Especially now since he was actually trying to get a job at the local radio station and with the decline in his Mother’s health. She yelled at him for that, yelled at him for always leading her on with his gentlemen way, lead her on by walking her home, by always accepting the gifts she would give him, that he owes her something for leading her on for two years.”
Mimzy laughed.
“She yelled all of that to Alastor in front of her parents house so naturally her Daddy and Mommy heard her unladylike behavior. Her mother pulled her inside the house quickly to give her a lecture I’m sure, because even Alastor had charmed her mother while her Daddy apologized for Alastor. The next time we saw Hope, she gave him a box of chocolates, told us that she knows it won’t mean much and that she would understand if Alasor didn’t accept it, but it was her way of apologizing for her outburst and for trying to force Alastor into a relationship when he currently has other priorities. At that time, Alastor was quite a forgiving person so naturally he accepted her apology and the chocolates. He ate a couple of those chocolates right in front of us, but stopped when he asked her what she put in the chocolates before he started to choke in front of us”
Husk had started to make his way over to them with a frown on his way.
“Don’t know how he knew, but Alastor? He was able to taste the poison in the chocolates,” Mimzy said finishing her drink and paying the bartender. “Don’t worry Kitty, I’m just leaving, not bringing any trouble to the King.”
“Sure ya were Mimzy, I never see you not bring any trouble,” Husk said. “You were talking an awfully long time.”
“I was merely telling him about Hope that’s all,” Mimzy said.
“You must have a death wish,” Husk said. “Al doesn’t like anything from his mortal life to be revealed especially her!”
“Wait wait,” Lucifer said. “This Soap person tried to poison Al with chocolate?”
“Ya got it Sweetie,” Mimzy said. “We don’t know what happened behind the scenes, but while Alastor was fighting for his life at the hospital with his Mom, myself, and my own Pookie by his side with Hope’s Daddy as his doctor. Hope had died with a look of terror on her face. Since then, Alastor never had sweets again or accepted any type of gift from someone without giving something back in return.”
“I don’t know what kind of friendship you think you had with Al, but once he finds out you told Lucifer all of this-” Husk said.
“I’m not too worried,” Mimzy said walking away. “See ya around.”
“Alastor is going to-” Husk said but stopped as he saw Mimzy shadows smile a familiar smile at the hotel’s bartender. “God damnit!”
"Oh, before I forget Your Majesty," Mimzy said turning around and walking back to the two. "If you ever, and I mean ever hurt Alastor like Hope did where he has to change a part of himself just to keep himself safe, then I will be interrupting every single song you might ever sing in Pride, no matter when or where and trust me. I know ways of getting everyone's secrets and I will use them in a song."
The shadow made a motion like it was it was giggling before it vanished into the shadows and Husk watched as the shadow made its journey back to the hotel.
“What kind of threat is that?" Lucifer asked once Mimzy left.
"It's a Mimzy threat" Husk said.
"Is what she said true?” Lucifer said. “That some girl tried to kill Alastor?”
“Hope? Don’t know. I didn’t know him at the time,” Husk said. “Anyway, we need to head back to the hotel.”
“Yeah,” Lucifer said. “Did you want me to open a portal or?”
“Naw, I think the walk will be nice for us, but you should portal to the hotel for your safety,” Husk said.
Lucifer nodded as they left the bar and once he was a safe distance away, he opened a portal to the hotel and entered the hotel lobby. The lights were dimmed as most of the guests and crew was still out enjoying their date. The radio was gently playing love songs from different genres to help set the mood for anyone who might have stayed behind. Lucifer walked up towards his room, letting the story Mimzy tell him repeat in his head.
He entered his room expecting Alastor to be there waiting on him. Instead, what awaited him was apple scented candles that were halfway melted showing that they have been lit for a while on a table that was covered with a pink table cloth that had red hearts and cupid looking rubber ducks. There was a bucket of ice that Lucifer figured must have been magicked to stay cold as the ice was still in the bucket with a bottle of wine chilling inside of it and a brief glance showed it was Lucifer’s favorite wine.
Lucifer stepped closer to the table to take a look at the plates that were next to the wine glass and saw pancakes on them that had melted whipped cream and chocolate syrup on top. His tongue flickered out to get a sense of the smell and the guilt he was feeling multiplied. He took in the taste of apples and cinnamon which Lucifer guesses must be the flavor combinations of the pancakes.
He reached over to one of the forks and cut up one of the pancakes to take a small bite of it and let out a small moan. Lucifer could always tell the difference between summoned food and the food that homemade so he knew Alastor had took the time to make all of this food in hopes that maybe Lucifer would have came back, which he never did and the fact that the food was cold also showed that it was sitting for a while.
He looked over at the chairs and saw a wooden duck. It wasn’t like an actual rubber duck that he always make, but like a full figure real life size duck that was painted to look like him. Lucifer held the duck close to his body and went to walk to his bed when he saw torn up white and pink paper on the floor. He tried to use his magic to put the papers back together, but the fact that he was only able to get one third of it done told him that the other two-thirds must have gotten destroyed a while ago.
“I screwed up pretty bad, didn’t I?” Lucifer said to himself.
He snapped his fingers and changed into his oversized pink sweater with pink rubber duck pants before he summoned a portal into Alastor’s room and walked through it. He saw the deer demon asleep in his bed red tanktop and Lucifer guessing red sweat pants and while it’s not something that Alastor would have commonly worn when he was alive, but even he couldn’t deny on how soft modern clothing have became.
“Lucifer?” Alastor grumbled as Lucifer crawled into Alastor’s bed, tucking himself underneath his arms until he was able to rest his head against Alastor’s chest.
“I’m sorry about today,” Lucifer said. “I-I didn’t know and-”
“Sleep, Lucifer,” Alastor said.
“Hey, you know I’m not trying to poison you when I summon or make you sweet food, right? And-and I totally wasn’t trying to make you feel any less special but Lilith would-”
“Lucifer,” Alastor growled.
“Shutting up now,” Lucifer said.
“You are sleeping now and maybe tomorrow we will talk if we have time,” Alastor said. “However, I’m hoping you will still save a dance for me?”
“Of course!” Lucifer said. “However I am sorry about-”
“I was originally going to surprise you with breakfast in bed,” Alastor said running his claws over Lucifer’s back being careful of the wings. “However, everytime I entered, someone was already in the kitchen trying to make homemade chocolates.”
“You made me a duck as well,” Lucifer said.
“Mmm don’t get used to it,” Alastor said with a yawn. “I didn’t want you to be lonely at supper if you decided to eat the food.”
Lucifer waited until he knew Alastor was back asleep.
“I’ll make it up to you tomorrow,” Lucifer said. “I promise.”
