Chapter Text

Firehouse 118

L.A California

May 18th 2019

The 118 was just just sitting down for supper with Maddie and  Bobby was visiting when it happened. A massive package about the height of one of the trucks arrived, a call came as the team got into the trucks with being the last person to step into the ladder truck being Buck.

There was a blinding light followed by a nearly deafening explosion, as Buck is throwing from the truck which protects him from the beams of the firehouse from injuring him further. Buck isn't sure how long he is trapped under there but he hears sirens, 'IS ANYBODY ALIVE IN HERE' cries Chief Alonso.

'Ch chief' cries Buck weakly and his voice is almost missed but they find him. 'Hang in there Buckaroo. We are going to get you free' says Athena, 'Ma maddie' asks Buck. 'Oh Buckaroo, I'm sorry but she's gone' says Athena.

'Chief we can't get him free unless we remove his leg. That's whats keeping him trapped' says a firefighter and Buck can read on his jacket that he is from Station 133. 'Cut it off' orders Chief Alonso since he wasn't going to lose a good firefighter.

An axe was heated up until it was bright red and it cut cleanly through the flesh, muscle, tendon and bone of Buck's leg. He was rushed to the hospital, 'Chief Alonso. How long was Mr Buckley trapped under the firetruck' asks the doctor.

Chief Alonso and Athena were in the waiting room. Ali wasn't answering her phone and Maddie was found with glass in her neck, 'A call came into the 118 at 6:15 and we got there at 8:15' says Chief Alonso.

'We have him started on an intense round of antibiotics to combat an possible infection. Is there any family we can call' asks the Doctor. 'No. He hasn't talked to his parents in years and his sister was killed in the explosion' says Athena.

'You can come and visit him if you wish. But for a short time only because he requires his rest' says the doctor as he leads Chief Alonso and Athena to Buck's room. In Buck's room, the bright lights only made the situation feel more dire.

'Athena have you already informed their families' asks Chief Alonso. 'Yes I have. The Diazes are coming to bring Christopher to Texas. Chimney's father is coming for the funeral and Karen has agreed to organize everything' says Athena.

'Chief Alonso what are you going to do with the remains of the 118' asks Athena and Chief Alonso sighed with a heavy breath as he tried to figure out what he was going to do with the destroyed station.

'I have to discuss it with the mayor since it is technically municipal property' says Chief Alonso as the pair give Buck one last look before they walk out of the hospital room. Unaware that across the country, a woman had faced the same thing with her station.

Arnow Mattress Factory

Chicago, Illinois

May 18th 2019

The whole of Firehouse 51's A shift was in the building. Captain Matt Casey had made the call for the paramedics to enter the building. The concrete floor fell and it fell hard, the oxygen tanks on several of the firefighters exploded from the force of hitting the ground.

'Disp dispatch send ad additional units to our location' radios Wallace Boden and it was to be the last radio transmission that he ever made. As more trucks arrived, police arrived as well in order to bring order to the chaotic scene.

As the additional units fought the blaze and eventually got it under control. Then the fire fighters began to pull out the men and woman of firehouse 51 who didn't survive, 'Halstead get her to Med immediately' says a firefighter as he places the PIC of 51 into the back of a police car.

The lights and sirens were blaring as Jay Halstead rushed to get one of two survivors for Firehouse 51 to the hospital. The paramedics were busy treating the employees of the factory to drive Sylvie to the hospital.

'Will I need some help' calls Jay to his older brother as he carries Sylvie. It was obvious that her arm was broken but there were no other injuries that were obvious on her, 'Maggie I need an x-ray in here' calls Will as Jay sets Sylvie down on the bed.

A few minutes later, Wallace enters and he is covered in dust, dirt and glass. 'Halstead where is she' asks Wallace sounding panicked, he had been outside be he remained on the scene to ensure that his entire house was pulled from the rubble.

'She's in emergency surgery' says Will as he brings Wallace to the O.R waiting room. 'I have to call Cindy and tell her what happened. She's watching Julia and Amelia' says Wallace as he remembers Sylvie's adopted daughter and her adopted half-sister.

'Wallace what are you going to do' asks Will when he came to check in sometime later. 'I am most likely going to resign. I lost nearly my entire house and 2 little girls nearly lost the only woman who cares about them' says Wallace.

'Sylvie is out of surgery and she is in recovery. Her arm was broken and it has a rod in there to ensure that it heals correctly' says Will as he and Wallace enter Sylvie's hospital room. Sylvie's left arm was in a cast.

'Oh Brett what is going to happen to you' whispers Wallace and he felt a buzz in his pocket. He had kept in contact with a Chief from Los Angelos and a Captain that he had meet a conference some years back.

The sun had long since set and Donna knew that he was going to remain at Sylvie's side.

Owen-252

Chief Alonso and Wallace. I am sorry about the tragedies that happened in your cities. Are there any survivors?

Chief Alonso-L.A

One of my firefighters was trapped under a ladder truck for 2 hours. He required having his leg amputated but he is sadly the only survivor and his sister was visiting the 118.

Wallace-51

One of my paramedics. She survived but she is the only survivor tragically.

I am going to see to transfer her out of the state so that she can get a fresh start on life without the ghosts of her past haunting her.

'It's going to be ok Brett' whispers Wallace as he takes guard over the only one of his firefighters to make it out of the fire.
