Work Text:
A vase found a place on your desk. It was kind of strange, since it showed up out of no where, but at least it came with a small compliment: A deep, red lily. A flower given to show deep love, admiration. One of dedication from the heart. Great, a small flower for a vase. It's cute, it's February. It's in the theme, you'll keep it.
The next day, there's a new flower. A deep pink peony. A flower symbolizing attraction, allure, amongst deep appreciation. The trainers in the school have caught onto the vase, along with your colleagues in the Trainer School. You've asked everyone where this vase and these flowers have come from. Did a student drop by during a break? Was it another colleague of yours? Was this just a really thoughtful Pokémon by chance?
Your closest colleague, Cheren, doesn't even know. He's always been observant, for some reason especially around your classroom, yet he hadn't seen a thing. "No one has gone in after you," he recited, over and over again.
Despite it all, there was always a new flower in the vase. Carnations, a daisy, some orchids, more carnations, even a few roses. All somehow symbolize love and admiration. Some were dedication and devotion. Some meant eternity and wealth, royalty and uniqueness. This is fucking with your head and you're losing it. No sign on who this is, and now this stranger has left a Forget Me Not in the vase.
A Forget Me Not. "Don't forget me," it screams, but you don't even know this stranger. This stranger who deeply admires you to the point they'll drive you crazy by putting a new, meaningful flower in the vase. What could this ever mean? Is this stranger afraid you'll forget them and move on from what you have with them, despite this stranger's devotion to you?
Another night to sleep on it. Unfortunately, you had to come in on Valentine's Day to make lesson plans and shit. Y'know, the works. Rubbing your eyes from the morning sun, there's something new in the vase. It's not a new flower. No, in fact, it's a Pokéball. A love ball, specifically for the occasion.
Click it open. A beam of light to the ground reveals a Roserade. It strikes a pose for you, ready to stand by your side. A serious look in its eyes, it's been trained and loved to the point all just to battle beside you. It's a thoughtful gift, not to mention a hefty one. One can only guess how much love it took to raise it, especially if it was raised since it was a young Budew. Considering the love ball, that might be the story behind it.
A note remains behind, in the mist of the vase. "Happy Valentine's Day", in some sort of calligraphy. Who's taking this time to plan and get you these gifts? How long have they been working on this? How long did this note take alone?
Footsteps. Outside the door is Cheren, rolling a cart towards the back of the academy, towards his gym set up. Maybe, maybe just this time, he has an answer for you. With Roserade catching up to you, the question comes out of your mouth quicker than you'd wish. "Did you see anyone enter my room earlier?"
Cheren shakes his head again. "No, I did not." His look is solemn as he gazes back at you, "I wish I could help." With this new information, you bid him farewell. This stranger will turn out eventually, right?
Then it hits you. Your door was locked before you came in today. Cheren was apparently there before.
Who else would have the key to all of the rooms in the Aspertia School?
