Ever since you got a new job at the daily planet the very first day everyone knew you were a fan of Sonic the Hedgehog, you made it very known with Sonic figures on your desk, your mug being Sonic, your pencils being Sonic hell you even wore a sonic necklace the colors on the blue hedgehog faded to a light blue due to how long you wore it.
Enough of your Sonic obsession you and Clark went to friends to lovers Clark adored how open you were about your passion for the blue hedgehog he found it cute and always send you pictures of merch of Sonic whenever he went to the store
“This reminding me of you!”
he would then send a photo of a Sonic plush in the middle of a random isle that isn’t the toy section. He loved you so much he learned all of your favorite games, the lore of the main characters and even watched the cartoons with you when it was a day off he would be lying if he said he wasn’t interested in Sonic not as much as you but definitely a bit.
Your birthday was coming up and you would think Clark would be so excited to get you a Sonic themed gift but you owned everything Sonic it was hard to find something that you didn’t already have he looked every store, every gaming section and every toy isle only to no avail he was starting to give up till he found the last Sonic figure he knew you didn’t have since he listened to you ramble on and on about a figure you been trying to find for so long he felt so relived and Started imaging your expression when he gave you the gift obviously this wasn’t the only thing he was buying you. In his cart had a blue basket with yellow fairy lights, peach rings,Sonic energy drink which he might regret giving to you later on, blue flowers,a Sonic blind bag and of course the Sonic figure.
After buying everything he hid the grocery bag from you.Every time he was near you he tried his best to not spill the secret gift it took all of his power to not ruin it, you would notice his strange behavior I mean you guys are literally dating but he brushed it off as work stressing him out so you didn’t question it since work was also kicking your butt
The day came your birthday it was midnight, you slept peacefully while Clark quickly put together the basket making sure everything he brought you was in the basket he even made a homemade card with a drawing of sonic he made at the front the inside read
“happy birthday my love! You are my ray of sunshine and you changed my life for the better since I first met you. I made this basket for you and I hope you enjoy everything in it I love you forever and I hope you have a great day my love
Sincerely, Clark Kent”
He knew it sounded sappy but he knew you liked it, he knew you like it when he acts like he’s in a rom com. After placing everything nicely he went back to the bedroom where you were in deep sleep Clark slowly got on the bed tryin not to move or make the slightest creek once he laid down comfortably he hugged you from behind and placed a kiss on your shoulder.
The morning comes the alarm blaring at 6:30 you use your arm to sit up and hit the alarm clock to stop blaring after it becomes quiet again you turn to Clark
“Mmm…babe..wake up it’s..it’s fine for work.”
You said half awake feeling your eyelids grow heavy, Clark wakes up also groaning from tiredness
“Okay..okay..I’ll get up..in…5….minutes.”
You knew 5 minutes mean he would get up when it’s time to go you rolled your eyes playfully and got ready it was till you went to the kitchen and saw a basket on the kitchen counter. You stand still as you look at it in shock not in a bad way but in a “he really does know me” kind of way you could hear Clark’s step walking up to you as he hugs you from behind his arms wrapping around your waist as he placed a kiss on your cheek
“Happy birthday hon I made this basket for you I hope you like it.”
You walk forward to the basket lookin at everything he got you you scanned everything item till your eyes landed on the Sonic figure you remember ranting to Clark about
“Clark! How did you find this one? I never found one no matter how many times I went to the store.”
Clark feels so proud of himself he’s usually humble but at the moment his confidence went all the way up
“I’m glad I could get you that figure hon I know how much you wanted it.”
You turn around and hug him tightly making him loose his balance a bit
“Oh thank you babe thank you! Thank you!”
Clark smiled so big this is the happiest he has ever felt
“Of course anything for you.”
