Buck Was Just Tired
Buck looked at Bobby’s house one last time as he prepared to drive away after he had left another fucking disappointing dinner. Last time he was this disappointed in his friend and captain was when he had found out Bobby had been the one holding him back from coming back to work after the whole embolism thing. That little bit of news coupled with being found quite capable by the contact in the Attorney General’s office a friend of his got him, had him back to work on light duty at the academy while the whole mess was looked over and Bobby got reamed out yet again for lying to the department. Now it happened again that he was disappointed that Bobby couldn’t keep his feelings out of his captain’s job and let him transfer instead of being there when his abuser, Chim, returned from stalking Maddie with Jee.
He sighed as he put the SUV he bought to drive after the tsunami took his beloved jeep, having his phone dial the number for his contact at the AG’s office to get him to make him yet another appointment with the head of HR and him because of Bobby not staying in his own lane. This time, however, Bobby had the entire shift behind him in the toxic mess that was going on with Chim kidnapping his niece and sister’s young infant daughter to be on a cross-country tour Gilligan’s Island style where it wouldn’t be a three-hour tour with the infant in the car seat. And everyone at the station’s shift being fine with this.
Buck leisurely drove out to where the food truck area he liked was as he was on hold, then told they had an early morning appointment with the head of HR tomorrow. Then they both hung up.
That next morning the appointment went long as the HR person went through the doctor’s x-rays from the ER after Chim had hit Buck, finding the broken bones easily in the x-rays, then they all watched Chim lose it from Buck’s internal apartment cameras and hit him. Getting the AG to swear out a warrant for his arrest for attempted manslaughter and kidnapping of an infant when he found out Chim’s name wasn’t even on the birth certificate of the baby he had with him. Nor could anyone actually find Buck’s sister. The same sister who had had a previous abusive husband that seemed to be as abusive as Chim. The warrant read the charges were pending on the attempted Man 1, with Intent to do Harm, Kidnapping Across State Lines – a federal matter, and the possibility of Murder in the First Degree since they didn’t know where Maddie was and couldn’t get a hold of her.
Obviously Chim was fired for cause with the evidence laid out and the charges the AG’s office was putting out. Word was sent out that Bobby WOULD be seeing the head of HR the next day and not be on shift so the current Lieutenant second in command would be taking over and after their shift was over every single member of that shift WOULD be coming in to see the people in HR over their morality clauses being violated with their tacit agreement that Chim was okay to kidnap the infant not under his name.
The whole HR department would be on the warpath now and hell to pay over a captain overstepping yet again. Buck was immediately transferred to the 133 under Mehta for his own safety with security cleaning out his locker and getting his turnouts from the 118 immediately.
It would not be a good week for the 118 ever again.
