Chapter Text
“May I ask you a question mate?” Phil asks you as he drives back to the packhouse. You had just flew over from the US after much persuasion from your friends in the UK. They were an official pack, and had asked you to join. So you applied for a pack visa, because what would it hurt right? Even if you were basically running from your parents, who were definitely going to be worried.
“Yeah.” You responded to the Alpha. Not that you could really tell, that is just what they said he was. You trusted them.
“Are you on suppressants? I know it’s not the best question, but I need to know if I or Kristin will be needing to set up doctor appointments.” He asked.
“No?” You asked confused. “What are suppressants?”
The two would share a quick look before Kristin would nod at Phil. You watched as Phil asked the navigation for the nearest hospital. That confused you worse, had you said something wrong?
“Have you presented yet?” Kristin would ask turning toward you, who was in the back seat.
“No. My parents said I will probably never present, that I had some condition.” You explained. Phil’s grip on the wheel tightened with a deep growl. It made Kristin jump and whine, while you just looked confused. Kristin would notice this and her eyes widened.
“Y/N do you have instincts yet?” She asks worriedly.
“No…” You already knew this was a bad thing, no matter what your parents had told you. Instincts told you who to trust, who would be a good pack, and what you should do in your life. Not having them made you hollow, and depressed. You could confirm that.
“At least you understand that.” She would sigh in relief. “We are going to take you to the hospital to see what is exactly wrong. It’s our duty, if we are going to be your pack leaders, to know everything about keeping you safe, and how to properly take care of your needs. Did your parents have you taking any meds?”
“Yeah. I left them back home like you told me to do with anything else they gave me.” You stated. She would nod. Phil seemed to calm a bit at the notion, though he still looked on edge.
Once at the hospital they ushered you into the emergency area, which confused you. This wasn't that big of a deal right? The hospital staff seemed just as concerned. They asked plenty of questions, and only let Kristin in the back with you. Which you again didn’t fully understand. They would take some blood, and do a few other tests before a doctor would come in the room with Phil following behind.
“I have gotten the results of all the tests back. They aren’t great, but not fully concerning. Definitely treatable.” The doctor said sitting on a stool, as Phil stood next to Kristin.
“Did they have her on suppressants like we thought?” Phil asked. The doctor sighed.
“That’s a hard question to answer. It’s a yes and no. Not the suppressants you may think. I assume she came over from America. I’ve only had a few other cases myself, but this is sadly very common. The fact she trusted you both enough to come over is telling enough that the suppressants were starting to lose their strength.” The doctor stated, which confused you.
“What other types of suppressants are there?” Phil asked confused.
“They are banned in most other countries, this being one. But there are suppressants for instincts. She must have developed them a bit early, as she said she had taken the pills since she was four. In lower quality they can be useful to those with instinct-disorders, but at the dose she was on they have been repressing them completely. They could have done this for many reasons over there. There are many states over in America that drug even those with instinct-disorders that don’t effect daily life. You will need to watch her for one, maybe find a doctor. Sometime after she presents, and been in a safe environment for a few months so you can see the proper signs. If nothing seems to keep her from being able to do normal daily tasks at the house. Then you can forgo seeing one if you’d like. If she gets one that interferes with a job, the best would to find a job that works around it or not allowing her to have one.” The doctor explains.
“Should we expect a mental drop from the medication?” Kristin asked looking over at you.
“She may. It’s not a guarantee, but possible. It really depends on how long she had her instincts before they gave her medication. If it was shortly after, then I wouldn’t worry too much. But if it was long enough to identify her parents scents, then she may react badly from not being around them.” The doctor explained.
“What scents? I thought that was made up for movies. Everyone doesn’t actually have their own smell right?” You asked confused, earning very panicked looks.
“You should have learned that in school mate.” Phil says.
“My parents homeschooled me. They didn’t trust schools to not treat me like I was broken.” You said. Kristin would sigh.
“It’s okay Phil, I used to teach kids this. I can go over it with her.” She tried to sooth the pissed Alpha. You could tell he was seething from his face and the reaction of the doctor.
“I would start before her instincts come back. So she has an idea what is happening or she may drop into a primal state.” The doctor said.
The three of you would soon be let go, and headed back to the car.
The car ride for the most part was quiet as Kristin drove so that Phil could calm down. It didn’t seem to be working going by his growling, and her purring. When you pulled up to their pack house Tommy came running out followed by Tubbo, and Ranboo. Wilbur would come out running as well some time after, while Techno waltzed out at a normal pace.
The three of you would get out, and before you got tackled by the teens Phil gave a growl that made the others freeze. They looked at him confused and hurt.
“Yo! Why is Phil growling. What did we do?” Tommy asked annoyed.
“We will need to discuss this inside.” Kristin said ushering you all inside while Phil got your things from the car.
You would be led to a living room she would sit on a love seat with you. Wilbur would sit in a recliner. The teens took the couch together with Ranboo in the center. Techno lend in a doorway. He seemed upset and uncomfortable about something.
“So what’s up?” Tubbo asked.
“Y/N is worse off then we thought. She has been on instinct suppressors since she was four that have suppressed them entirely. That is why she has also not presented and has no scent. She also can not smell yours, so until she has detoxed. None of you can hug her. It’s not safe until we know if she remembers her parents scents or not.” A loud bang was heard before deep growling coming from Techno’s direction. By the time you looked over he was no longer in the doorway.
“I’ll go calm him down.” Wilbur said jumping up and rushing off after Techno.
“Is Techno okay?” You asked confused.
“He also used to take instinct suppressors. I helped him down when we both moved here. His were because he has hyper-protective-disorder. Don’t tell him I said anything. He probably reacted because of that.” Ranboo said skittishly. You would nod.
Kristin would lead you to the room they had set up for you to use. It was nice, you guessed. It wasn’t special. It had a bed, dressers, a closet, and a not fully setup computer. You just flopped into the bed and fell asleep.
