shadowheart knew she looked beautiful like this. her dark hair, out of its usual braids, splayed across the pillow beneath her. the pale moonlight seeping in from the window caught her eyes with soft shimmers as she slowly blinked. the light spilled all across her frame, illuminating acres of soft skin. a dazzling mixture of pudge, curves, and muscle. she knew herself to be a being of grace, sculpted by her dark lady's mighty hands.
nothing in comparison, though- if you ask her- to the sight between her legs. with brilliant eyes gently shut, the blade of frontiers rested his weary head on her stomach. he appeared as if dozing in the moonlight, reminding shadowheart of a lazy housecat in a ray of sunshine. thick lashes batted gently in time with shaking eyelids, as if wyll was afraid to let himself truly rest. he probably was.
although they found brief sanctuary at the last light inn, the party was far from relaxed. certain doom loomed over their heads and all could feel it. so many people to save, so little time. the knowledge that their group wouldn't likely survive- even if they succeed in saving the masses- draped like an impossibly heavy blanket over tired shoulders. with the fate of faerûn following behind them like an avalanche, there was no room to stop running.
besides, even amongst their refuge, shadowheart felt surrounded. everywhere she went, uneasy selûnite eyes followed her and creeping moonbeams reached from all sides. her hand hurt more often here than ever. sharran presence was unwelcome here and no effort was made to hide it.
like she had many times since arriving, she whispered a short prayer to her lady, and allowed herself the calm of one delicate night. if ever-burdened wyll was finding something close to peace, shadowheart would find a way to do so too.
dipping gently into new waters, shadowheart slowly reached out and caressed one of wyll's horns. she met his eyes and smiled softly. is this okay? her expression silently asked.
a beat passed as wyll pondered, lost in momentary thought. as quick as it started, the moment broke and he nuzzled further into her touch.
she smiled softly and rubbed small circles into the ridged surface. "you are just as lovely now as you were before."
