Chapter Text
It was like an ocean of blood.
Whatever came through here tore everything apart.
Including whoever was in its way.
They can curse at whatever god they want too.
Pray. Bargain. Or do nothing at all.
It wouldn't save them.
Pain wasn't a thing anymore.
It existed. A feeling much like anger or sadness.
Of course, it still sucked.
Same door, same time, same events.
This time, you found your footing and ran.
But you were no less injured.
You collapsed over a guardrail, blood spilling from your abdomen that had been so carelessly split open onto the concrete.
You were lucky your organs weren't falling out.
Still, your death was inevitable.
No less painless.
You gasped, the sound curling at the end into a gurgle, the salt in the air scraping your throat raw.
Looking down at the bottomless pit surrounded uselessly by a fence, you considered jumping, plummeting to your death.
But who knows if you'd actually hit something or just be falling till you bleed out and die? Body left to rot while endlessly drifting down towards nothing.
You decided you had a better chance just bleeding out right here and maybe having your body picked off by whatever starving creatures remained.
Your vision swam at the edges, head thumping. Adrenaline wearing off.
You heard something slither behind you and thought nothing of it but a fast death. Hopefully.
Turning your head, you caught sight of a pale yellow lure.
The thing, or person, it was attached to seemed to pay you no mind. A handful of papers in one hand and a bloody medkit in the other.
Probably stolen off of someone's body.
Maybe they thought you were dead, like the rest of your teammates.
They wouldn't be far off.
Your voice worked before your mind caught up to it.
"Yo,"
The figure paused, lifting their head but not turning it.
"Can't you help a guy out?"
The creature grunted, obviously not in a pleasant mood.
You continued anyway.
"What, is it below you to mercy kill an animal like me?"
CRACK
The barrel of a gun smoked.
Your body slumped over the rail and then onto the ground.
Blood pooled beneath your head.
It was a clean shot.
You saw it coming.
