Chapter ?:
Hornet stared at the Knight Vessel. It stood tall over her. Still as a statue, and silent as a grave.
"Kneel." Hornet ordered the vessel. The large knight smoothly lowered into a silent one knee kneel. Ready for action and staring at her through unseeing eyes.
Hornet hated the vessel. Throughout her upbringing she'd seen the kings knight vessels from a distance and always felt ill at ease by them. This taller 'perfect vessel' as her father had boasted to her while physically different from her fathers personal knight vessel guards was now hers to command.
"Perfect Knight Vessel. I order you from now until your shell and nail falls in combat to here-forth defend my daughter and heir Princess Commander Hornet from all harm and threats against her. I also henceforth order you to obey all orders and commands from her unless they contradict or will break any previous acting and future orders from your king." Remembered Hornet to herself.
Hornet groaned as she glared down at the still kneeling and waiting knight vessel. She didn't need this babysitter following her. How was she supposed to move quickly through the kingdom if she couldn't do so alone? This vessel would never be able to keep up with her and her paths through the kingdom.
Hornet then paused and actually had a thought. She didn't need the vessel to follow her patrols. She could just loose them immediately. Still it would be a bad idea if she lost the vessel her fist day and it caused trouble for her.
I'll drop it on Quirrel. Hornet decided as the safest location to 'loose' her guard. Knight, follow. She ordered as she headed to the explorers house.
The walk was quick and her new vessel like since the moment she was gifted the vessel followed with long silent strides. How an artificial construct could walk so silently she didn't like.
"Quirrel!" Hornet shouted outside the explorers door. There was a harsh racket and the sound of something breaking before the door to the home was flung open.
"Oh! Hornet! Good to see you! Can I help you?" Fluttered an unprepared Quirrel.
"Yes." Hornet motioned to her guard. "This is my new knight vessel babysitter from my father. Can you watch them for a moment?"
"Uhm...." Began Quirrel.
"Great! Thank You Quirrel" Shouted Hornet as she spun on her tarsus and leapt for the roof of a nearby building with her thread.
"Hornet!" Shouted Quirrel behind her as Hornet took to the roofs as easily as she could the streets. She ignored Quirrels shouting, she was free of her current problem.
With ease Hornet hurled herself across houses and over large gaps ignoring the passing cries and shouts of citizens passing below. She loved racing over the heads of normal bugs. Still she kept her eyes open for any abnormalities on her route. She was headed towards the border of Deepnest and would have to briefly slow to show the Hollownest kingdoms guards her badge to continue past them.
Hornet landed with a soft shaa as she stood before the guards stationed outside Deepnest. The pair on duty stood tense as they looked at her. They weren't new guards she knew that much and Deepnest knew her to well to stay afraid.
