"Hm?" Jophiel hummed, turning to look at the sky again.

Or:

Cynphiel oneshot to have more fluff since they’re dead in every universe now, and to make a certain SOMEONE go to sleep.

Work Text:

"Do you think we're friends in every universe, Jophiel?" Cynikka asked, not fully turning to look at Jophiel when asking that,

"Only in death it seems," Jophiel replied, her wings coming to wrap around herself.

Cynikka didn't respond to Jophiel's answer, and with that Jophiel let out a small sigh.

"Do you know how many stars there are in the sky?" Jophiel asked, her head tilting up to look up towards the darkness above them. At the other's silence Jophiel continued, "An improbable amount it seems like. Yet, some people think that for each star there's a universe."

Jophiel finally turned to look at Cynikka. She sat there for a moment, watching as Cynikka looked at they sky. Not saying anything, but instead it looked like they were musing to themself.

"So maybe, in the almost infinite amount of stars, there's a universe where we can stay friends… where we can be together without having to die for the chance."

A stretch of silence fell apon the two as Jophiel looked at Cynikka. Her angelic wings brushing against their warm brown wings.

"In what was are you counting stars?" Cynikka finally spoke, turning to look at Jophiel, their head tilting in question.

"Hm?" Jophiel hummed, turning to look at the sky again.

"I mean, if you're talking about just the ones we can see, then there would be around 4,500 stars or less, meaning only that many universes. However, if you're talking about the ones visible in our galaxy, then there would be around 100-400 billion stars. Even then, you still have the entire universe which from what we know of has at least a septillion stars," Cynikka explained.

Jophiel didn't respond at first.

"I didn't know that you knew that, Cyn," Jophiel responded. Sure, she was an angel, but even then she didn't know every small fact.

Cynikka blushed in embarrassment, turning their head to look away. "The sun is the closest star to us, and I'm a fan of the sun, so I kind of like the other stars in turn."

"That's a nice fact to know. I wish I knew things like that, but I'm more educated in other subjects," Jophiel assured, her hand coming up to ruffles Cynikka's hair.

"You're educated in like, religion and really smart people stuff Jophiel. All I'm really educated in is random facts about personal things," Cynikka pushed Jophiel's head off their head, letting out a slightly offended scoff.

"Don't sell yourself short, Cynikka."

"You mean don't sell myself any shorter than I am already."

"True, now, how about you tell me some more things about the stars?"
