My Sun Is Brighter

Summary:

Yoongi wakes up next to Hoseok in the middle of spring.

Notes:

Just a small, spontaneous drabble for my friendo Chim. I had no idea what I was writing when I started lol

Work Text:

Yoongi woke up to the unpleasant sensation of a cold breeze passing his skin. Which really, would have been the most distasteful way to wake up - if it wouldn’t have been for the human warmth right at his side; pressed close to his chest.

He didn’t bother opening his eyes before snuggling closer to the other; throwing his left arm and leg over the other body while pressing his cheek closer to the other’s chest.

Hoseok was warm. And comfortable.

Yoongi loved warmth. He did not, however, like the cold breeze that continued to ghost over his back.

“Why is it so cold?” he mumbled into the other’s chest. Annoyed, that the cold was already taking his slumber from him.

He knew Hoseok was awake. He could hear it in the way the other’s heart beat against the younger’s ribcage from the other side. Hs could hear it in the way the other breathed against his hair.

He could feel familiar fingers ghosting unconsciously over his own back.

The younger was always up way before him - usually making him coffee or breakfast even before the sun rose. Would wake him up with soothing circles over his sides. With soft touches running through his hair.

Sometimes, he’d leave their apartment even before Yoongi woke up at all. He’d leave a note, food, a messy drawing for him to wake up to or he’d press a soft kiss on Yoongi’s temple before leaving - whispering warm words in his ear that he was yet too tired to make out but would bring a smile on his lips nonetheless.

“We forgot to open the window yesterday. But I didn’t want to move-” Hoseok hugged him closer “-let alone leave you.”

Yoongi pretended to be annoyed with a deep mumble and hid his smile in the fabric of Hoseok’s shirt.

“It’s fucking cold though.” he complained.

“Well, honey,” the other sounded amused, “it’s spring.”

Yoongi groaned.

“Stop being a dick and gimme the blankets.”

“Don’t have them. You kicked them all off the bed.” the younger chuckled.

He loved the other’s laugh, his voice and his chuckle. But he also wanted to deck him in the face.

His mind was quickly changed however, when another breeze entered the room oh-so-rudely but made up for it with opening the curtains just enough for the bright sun to fall on both of them.

The sun was warm to his skin - just like Hoseok was.

It was also bright and bought the most beautiful colors to the world.

To Yoongi, it looked like nothing but a shadow compared to Hoseok.

How dared the sun call itself bright and beautiful when there was Hoseok next to him- a fond smile on his face as he pressed a kiss on the top of Yoongi’s head. When there was Hoseok waiting for him with open arms even late at night, when the sun had long vanished from sight.

How dared the sun be a sign of happiness, when it was, in fact, his younger bandmate who would make him smile even in times of grief, trouble and fear.

Looking at that uselessly bright ball of fire had never bought a smile on Yoongi’s features.

Only Hoseok.

“Do you want me to stand up and close the window?”

Yoongi shook his head.

“I can get the blankets?”

“Nah. Don’t wanna move” he slurred, and he was pretty sure that nobody would have understood him if it wasn’t this specific person.

“But you’re still cold?” A nod.

Hoseok sighed.

“Alright. How about this. We both move- Wait! Hear me out on this- We both move to the living room, I’ll bring you coffee, we order breakfast and we cuddle on our couch for the rest of the day. With blankets. And maybe more than cuddling.”

Yoongi looked up- for the first time since waking up- and prepared to shoot Hoseok a skeptical look. Instead, he lost his words as soon as he was met with the other’s illuminated features. Skin dipped in golden honey, his own reflection sparkling in the younger’s eyes, that smile-

He couldn’t help but suddenly feel warm inside, all around his heart and his soul. This was his own personal sun. Much brighter than those boring balls in the sky.

“I really love you.” he breathed out, embarrassed by his own sudden confession but still too awestruck by the wave of pure love that had hit him.

Hoseok’s eyes widened in surprise, his lips forcing his smile brighter than before.

“You’d better.” the other replied smugly, fond smile speaking volumes of words.

Before Yoongi could realise what was happening to him, the other had already wrapped his arms around him and pulled him up- into the cold.

Yoongi protested.

“I said I love you, not fucking get me out of my damn bed and carry me around you-” a kiss right on his lips interrupted him.

“You curse too much. Also, I took your sudden and very dramatic confession as a ‘yes’ to my earlier suggestion. Couch. Cuddles. Take-out.”

Yoongi huffed; heat rising to his cheeks. “You pay.”

“With your card? Always.” the other replied smugly, carrying Yoongi over into the living room.

Maybe Yoongi should take that part with the sun back. The sun, after all, didn’t wipe his credit card clean.

But the coffee was good.
