Summary
“That’s not stupid,” Buck said. “Feeling overwhelmed, even when nothing looks wrong on the outside—I know the feeling. I’ve felt lost so many times in my life, and it’s okay to feel the same. Your dad felt that. You’re not broken, Chris.”
Chris’s vision started to swim again—not from pain this time, but from that awful kind of vulnerability that made you feel like your insides were being dissected under a spotlight. Like they're being torn apart and open again and torn apart all over—-an endless cycle and Chris was so tired of feeling it.
“Then why does it feel like I am? What’s wrong with me, Buck?” He said helplessly, on the edge of screaming it from the top of his lungs.
Buck didn’t answer right away. He looked like he wanted to, though. Chris watched his mouth twitch with a thousand unsaid things, but he stayed quiet for a moment longer. Just rested his palm fully on Chris’s leg, grounding, steady. Buck brought his forehead to his and Chris brought a hand to his shirt and gripped it tightly.

Summary
Bobby enters the bathroom. Bobby goes to the shower and sweeps aside the curtain. Bobby looks down and immediately jerks back.
“Well?” Buck asks.
“Nope,” Bobby says.
“Nope?” Buck stares at him—he's already halfway to the door. “What d’you mean, nope?”
“Nope as in I-can’t-help-you-here nope.” He does look apologetic. Only a little bit, though. Mostly he looks like he’s three seconds from passing out.
One incapacitated Buck and one mystically teleporting Bobby against one gigantic half-drowned spider. Sounds like the start of a really, really bad joke. Maybe an equally bad fantasy novel. Alas, this is neither of those things.
