Summary
Gavin Reed used to think androids couldn't feel pain.
He's proven wrong.
He may hate Connor's fucking guts, but he wouldn't wish this on anyone.

Summary
"If brokenness is a form of art, surely this must be my masterpiece"
Connor is done with this. He's tired of opening his eyes on the elevator each time he dies. But he opens his eyes and the beep of the numbers climbing higher greets him as it always does. And this time, more so than any other, it fills him with feelings and he's almost certain he's going to vomit. Can an android even vomit? He ponders this, only briefly, before the elevator doors open.

Summary
This story will end.
Hank Anderson is not aware of this. He's been alive for eight hundred years, rendered incapable of dying as punishment for a transgression he does not remember committing, and he's long since given up hope of having any kind of ending.
Reaper 800 does not remember what mortal sin he committed. None of the Grim Reapers do. He does not remember being Connor, and he does not remember how he is connected to Hank's own forgotten past. He does not think about endings much at all.
But this story will end, and that starts with them finding each other.

Summary
Connor's programming tells him he's wrong for being deviant. The new world tells him he's wrong for thinking he's wrong for being a deviant. The result: he feels bad about everything.
Hank's history has led to untreated depression and a roster of coping mechanisms that consists pretty much entirely of alcohol and a partially loaded gun. He isn't really equipped to handle an anxious android on top of that, but he can't bring himself to abandon him either.
The result: Connor moves in.
The result: They begin to help each other.
The result: They fall in love.
((aka conflicts between Connor's opinions and his programming lead to moral OCD, which he deals with badly; he moves in with a still-depressed Hank, which who isn't doing so hot himself; together they learn to deal with their problems and each other a bit better))

Summary
The fact that he doesn't speak, he knows, does not endear him to his human partner, Lieutenant Anderson.
Connor is non-verbal, and it changes things as much as it doesn't.

Summary
Unemployment was not the best thing to ever happen to Connor, but it was high on the list. The best thing to ever happen to Connor was the sight of a Corgi wearing a small cowboy hat leashed to a post in front of the liquor shop. The second best thing to ever happen to him was the emancipation of his people from slavery and the opening of negotiations for equal rights. But unemployment may come in at a solid third.
