Summary
Sokka's instincts had screamed at him ever since Jet showed his smarmy, smug, wheat chewing face, but without evidence he couldn't convince Katara and Aang to listen to him. Honestly, as time went on and he couldn't find anything to support his unease he started to doubt it himself.
Then Jet let him in on the Freedom Fighter's biggest secret.
Sokka should have known better than to ignore his instincts.

Summary
“It’s a piece of history,” He argued and she was, as always, shocked at the rolling gravel that flowed quietly from his mouth, “We must preserve it.”
And Mae, who’d spent hours scrubbing the ghost of bloodied fingerprints from her brushes and days willing the scratch of pen to paper to drown out the sound of the Fire Princess's wailing; had looked at the child clutching ruined parchment to his chest and suddenly understood like a punch to the jaw why Prince Iroh had to be physically restrained from murdering his brother in cold blood.Or
The early days of Firelord Zuko's reign as described by his Royal Stenographer.

Summary
On a deserted island just off the Earth Kingdom coast, the Blue Spirit saves Katara from the pirates.
It's an accident, really. The waterbender isn't supposed to be there. And he isn't supposed to take her back to his ship.
Unfortunately, there's only one way off the island, and his mask can't stay on forever.

Summary
He softened, stepping away from her. “When I was younger, my mother told me this story. About this Prince of the Fire Nation— Kai and the woman he fell in love with, Gira. She was an earthbender and when she touched him, his fire turned green. Apparently, princes and princesses of the Fire Nation throne carry this trait.”
Katara’s brows drew together. “When benders touch you, your fire changes colors?”
He bit his lip hard enough to taste blood. “No. When your ‘soulmate’,” he put air-quotes around the word, his voice shaking, “touches you. I mean almost no one after Kai married a bender— whether it was their soulmate or not. There’s no way to know it’s true.”
“But I’ve seen your fire turn bl— oh. Oh.” she shook her head, turning away from him. “That’s ridiculous.”
“I know.” he huffed.
“But your fire—”
“I know.”
Silence fell over them.
Zuko jolted when Katara laid a warm hand on his shoulder. He told himself he was imagining the tingling feeling that spread through his palms. “Let’s try it.”

Summary
Two years after the war, Fire Lord Iroh wants Prince Zuko in the Southern Water Tribe for a diplomatic mission. Zuko has plenty of reasons to say no, like the fact that he’s busy enough being a prince of the Fire Nation (and because of her dark hair, her deep blue eyes, her fiery will, her—)
To placate his uncle, he writes a list of reasons it would be good to go. But Zuko knows it’s a futile exercise; there’s nothing that could convince him that visiting the Southern Water Tribe is a good idea…

“Thanks, Mom.”
Lin blacks out for a second. Then she has several thoughts in quick succession; the first is fuck. The second is that she’s inexpressibly glad they are in her office and not in the bullpen. The third is that she needs to say something now before Mako flees and never speaks to her again. A look of slow, dawning horror is spreading across his face, and Lin scrambles to say something that will end this torment for both of them.

Summary
"In the distance a cavehopper sings into the darkness, oblivious to all that transpired tonight, and she envies its freedom. She taps her fingers against her chest but every other inch of her is still, like a pond on a windless day. ‘What do you mean?’
‘I can’t seem to get people to love me.’”
--
“It hits her then, why she was confused and upset when he saved her from Azula’s wrath. She’s so used to everyone expecting something in return—a kiss, a declaration of love, her forgiveness, the assumption she’ll take care of them or go along with their plans—that she’s been waiting for him to disappoint her in ways she’s used to. Except he doesn’t.
And Katara also realizes she was never upset at him, not really. She was just upset he showed her all the ways everyone’s taken her compassion and maturity for granted. He saw her drowning in the weight of expectations before she even realized it herself, and for that she’s forever grateful.”
Katara learns to grow up through falling in love with Zuko. Set immediately after the final Agni Kai.
