Summary
Arthur stares at Charles’ fingertips, tracing patterns in the air in front of his face. He knows the man is saying something to him, but he stopped paying attention ages ago. His eyes feel heavy, threatening to close. He’s been so, so tired lately. For the past week, he’s barely slept, hardly eaten, and hasn’t stopped moving for more than thirty minutes.
Naturally, when Charles caught on, he wasn’t happy. He didn’t yell at Arthur or berate him. In fact, he didn’t say much at all. Instead, he dragged the man off to a tent to hide him away from the rest of the camp. That way, he can’t get swept into another errand. At that point, he’d usually swat Charles away and tell him he’s fine. He’s an adult and doesn't need to be babied. Especially not with the reputation he has.Series

“See somethin’ you like, angel?” he drawled, new shirt left hanging open on his broad shoulders.
“Arthur-”
“Mister Smith, I mean to say,” Arthur corrected himself, palms up and out in surrender as he continued chuckling like the evil, bad, evil man he was. Charles let himself get close enough for a quick slap to Arthur’s arm with the back of his hand.
“I’ve told you-”
“Not in camp, I know, I know,” Arthur defended, his smile falling to something more serious as he took a moment to look at Charles properly, eye-to-eye. “I’m sorry, just hard sometimes when I’ve been gone and you look so…”
“So?” Charles asked, arms crossed on his chest and doing his best to look fed up with Arthur, regardless of how far it felt from the truth.
“Sorry, I can’t tell you in camp. Against the rules,” he said mockingly, his cocky grin returning.

Abed watches the sea every night, waiting for his lover to return from his sea-swept voyages and encounters with pirates and monsters, Penelope waiting for Odysseus to return from war-
Okay, so maybe they live in Colorado, and he can't watch the sea, but he can watch every pirate movie and travel documentary that there is, one a night, making them stretch into forever until Troy returns.
There is something strangely soothing in waiting for Troy to return like Penelope waiting for Odysseus, except Abed has no tree-rooted bed, just a set of half-empty bunk beds and a dreamatorium that hasn't fired properly since Troy left and a gaping hole in his heart that he is having to bail out before it sinks beneath the waves like a capsizing lifeboat, a sinking ship-
(When Troy is gone, Abed watches the sea for him- i.e. watches all of the boat-based movies he can get his hands on in order to make sure that Troy returns safely. But as time goes on and it becomes clear that something has gone very wrong with his sea journey, even that might not work.
The question then becomes: is Troy actually going to come back?)
