Malleus sat up a little straighter, offense written clearly on his regal features. “You doubt my ability to lead?”
“I doubt your ability to play,” Leona’s smirk widened. “Raw power will only get you so far in sports. Ya gotta know the game, know your opponents, and how to strategize with multiple pieces that can kinda think for themselves,”
To his amusement, Malleus looked to be at a loss, his glossy lips pressed tightly together and his inner eyelids flickering across his eyes just as fast as his eyelashes fluttered. Leona was just about to return his attention to his book when Malleus finally responded.
“So you will teach me then, yes?”
