Summary
In a world where the light fades, and shadows consume the soul, how much can one endure before the deepest, most forbidden corners of the mind are awakened?
Hermione Granger has always been different and has been put through hell for it. She’s grown up with no friends, only her family and her love of learning to help being a kid with no friends. That is until one day her entire world is turned upside down when a mysterious person shows up at her house and her parents don’t return home that night.

Summary/spoilers
HG sorts Slytherin and deals with systemic abuse and bullying. The Order et al. are evil, and AD murdered the Grangers; Snape and Lupin are supporting protagonists. Eventual DMHG. There are prophecies afoot.
HG's the stolen child of Regulus Black and Marlene McKinnon, but she doesn't know it (yet).
Reading notes/spoilers
DNF chapter 29 (titled 'chapter 27'), sexualized humiliation of a sixteen-year-old girl by an authority figure, as a punishment action.
This is a well written and deeply engrossing work and I love how subversively it follows the canon beats, but it's very dark and frankly I need a conclusion. (And I want it to involve a metric shit-ton of death and retribution. I am not above fiendfyre.) Maybe check back in a year.

Summary
Hermione found it particularly fitting how the start of her adult life and the end of her adult life was, and will be, marked by funerals.
***
She finally stood and made her way over to his grave. Taking a handful of the dirt, that she levitated off of the ground, she threw it onto his grave.
It wasn’t goodbye, no.
It was good riddance.

Summary/spoilers
Graphic description of multiple miscarriages and sexual abuse.
RW dies while HG pregnant, DM handles inheritance laws. Backstory shows Ron as wildly abusive, bespelled HP and all the Weasleys to ignore the abuse including putting HG and HP under Imperius to rig an unbreakable vow that would kill HP if HG ever left Ron. Ron went full pureblood bigot and bespelled his estate to only go to a male heir, and with the child in utero HG is trapped under extreme financial abuse managed by DM. A daughter (Adeline) is born and Ron only wanted a son, so there's an estate clause to get rid of a daughter via a blood disinheritance rite. (There are LOTS of secret clauses dramatically revealed in this inheritance thing, at least three.) At the end of it all, HG uses the resurrection stone to speak to dead Ron and give him a mildly firm talking-to that apparently gives her good closure, and DM surprises HG with gravestones for her three miscarriages. Scorpius is also in this story.
(But HG was pursuing an artistic job as a wandmaker during the backstory, which the story described as a big deal and I didn't understand how abusive Ron was cool with that and I didn't understand how that had no potential to ameliorate the financial abuse? But this job was only mentioned in one chapter (Chapter 8), and that's probably why.)
Reading notes/spoilers
This is essentially torture porn with a full-on Ron the Death Eater mastermind. DM rescues HG a lot, and HG does a lot of begging. Chapter 19 divulges into un-negotiated bdsm and humiliation kink which the author swears makes sense in context (see comments in chapter) but seemed totally out of place with HG's past trauma so I bailed there. Also, witches heal instantly from childbirth, and yes, this is a plot point.
Author lavished a lot of care and attention on the abuse elements and rationales for Ron's actions, but this didn't feel like a deliberate exploration of abuse. This felt like pure hurt/comfort with extra twists to pad things out, and I didn't think the smut integrated well with the heavy themes at all. Chapter 19 was seriously jarring.
Really disliked the joke-y tags here and the 'I’ll Add more [tags] Soon Hehe'. Tagging is optional and authors have total license over them, but these aren't helpful for sorting purposes and didn't give me much to go on for a pre-read vibe check.
Story quote
Shame this one is so counter to my tastes, the summary is stunning. Although I think of it as a slightly condensed:
Taking a handful of the dirt, she threw it onto his grave.
It wasn’t goodbye, no.
It was good riddance.
Writing's unfortunately a bit rough.
But Hermione had enough. She was done with his viscous words and cruelty.

Dast Dare was a wizarding variant of truth or dare favoured by the dark-aligned families. Rules were set prior to rounds; each round lasted a week. And those who chickened out on their dare were magically bound to honor the penalty.

Gritty, unflinching deep dive into injury and illness, with a huge focus into the mental recovery / adjustment aspect. The worldbuilding is extraordinary but hot damn is the vibe bleak.
Especially loved the medical details here with multiple well-rounded oc medical-professional characters and original potions / medications / charms / spells, and a spotlight on 'therapy is NOT optional.'
DNF at chapter 44 with some fucked-up The (Sexual) Gift of the Magi mood whiplash, where HG cannot orgasm without triggering panic attacks and SS is now impotent. It's very apparent the intent of the story is to explore realistic effects of real-life problems, where the point is learning to live with life-altering circumstances that the characters cannot control and that even magic can only help them adapt from minimally. I cannot stress enough how this one is thoughtful and well-written, but I think I'll wait a bit to see how the conclusion is shaping up before continuing further.
