“Er-ge should rest,” you say. You call him that before you can stop yourself, and there’s a part of you that revolts against it. It isn’t right to lie like this, especially to your older brother, especially to someone so vulnerable.
But is it right, you wonder, to let him remain so broken when a little lie like this could make him happy?
Is it right to deny your brother happiness when your fates have swapped, when it feels as though you’ve taken all his joy for your own?
