    How would a bunch of emoji invite a reply though? That's usually what the scammers want—honestly, I've never had seen a user who commented with just emoji end up trying to convince someone to contact them off-site

    All of the ones I've seen tend to be either vague compliments about the fic, or specific but bland in a way that feels like AI, and when you reply to them they start talking about contacting them on discord or insta or whatever, or how they'd like you to commission them for art/a webcomic/whatever

      Agreed, I am active in many fandoms and have yet to see an emojii only comment that was a scam.
