Summary
Kojiro opens the door and looks around into the quiet street, frowning. It’s empty of life, no person in sight; the few other shops and restaurants located on the same street having long been closed by this time. He does hear some slight rustling, but it’s the small cooing noise that brings his attention downwards to the wicker basket left on the doorstep of Sia la luce. He slowly squats down so that he is closer to the baby occupying the basket.
“Hey there, sweetheart,” he says, his voice quiet so as not to disturb the little one. He reaches his arm over and grasps a tiny hand between his thumb and forefinger. “Where did you come from?”
Kojiro smiles gently as he picks up the basket and heads back indoors. He softly closes the door behind him and when he turns back into the restaurant, Kaoru is much closer to him leaning up against a nearby table.
“What’s—” Kaoru’s eyes widen when he sees the baby. “Uh, where did that come from?”
Or: fellas, is it gay to raise a baby with your best friend?

Summary
Kaoru isn’t prepared for the affection that surges through his whole body when she looks up at him in a way that is so trusting and reserved solely for a parent from their toddler. If he’s being honest, he’s never prepared for that feeling. The feeling of having his breath punched out of him when he realises that he has his heart walking around outside his body. And who knew that Kaoru’s heart would look like the exact spitting image of her daddy?
A lump forms in his throat every time Yua beams up at him with the same ridiculously bright grin of Kojiro’s; her starry-eyes identically coloured to his and shining with the same happiness, her green curls softly framing her face.
Kojiro is out of town for a few days, leaving Kaoru to parent their daughter alone for the first time.

Summary
“You have no idea how grateful I am,” Kojiro says, so quietly it’s almost a whisper.
And then he smiles that stupid, lazy, signature, boyish smile of his and Kaoru is helpless but to lean over and kiss him; helpess but to cup Kojiro’s face between his hands and press chaste kiss after kiss against his warmth. It’s a catch-22, really, for Kaoru to fall prey to the temptations of Kojiro’s smile like this, yet with each touch of their lips Kojiro’s smile only becomes more endearing.
They hear Yua barrelling back into the room before they see her. She huffs out a giggly, “Ew,” and when they pull apart, she’s standing next to Kojiro’s knee, looking up at them with her little nose wrinkled in fake disgust.
“Ew?” Kojiro parrots back at her, still smiling wide, running the pads of his fingers over the loose green curls hanging down her forehead.
“Kissing is yucky,” she says defiantly.
Kojiro and Kaoru have a cosy family Christmas with their daughter.
