Summary
They reach the point nearest the cliff edge after a few minutes and Jaskier starts to set up his camera, leaving Geralt to once again try teaching Dandi that if he throws something then the puppy needs to give it back before he can throw it again. Dandi tires before Jaskier finishes so Geralt ends up sprawled in the grass on his back, puppy sitting on his chest and barking triumphantly until Jaskier offers him a treat for ‘defeating a great and powerful monster’.
In which Geralt, Jaskier and their dog stop off at a Ren faire on their way to meet up with their family for the summer festival.

Summary
There's a joke somewhere in this, five witchers on a fishing boat and still no fish. To be fair, none of them were trying very hard; Aiden hadn't even moved from where he'd flopped on the deck about three steps on board, apparently cats can just lie in sunspots for hours.

The two of them end up in an unseasonably warm courtyard, watching a group of teenagers trying to pet the goats and avoid being headbutted. Ciri seems to have absorbed some of Eskel's opinions on the animals, and starts to share them as they wait for the food, gaining confidence as Jaskier listens and asks questions.

They settle in a comfortable silence over the next couple of hours or so, Geralt grabbing his laptop to do some research once he's finished eating, what he thinks is a video game soundtrack playing quietly in the background. A few dishes appear, the dessert turns out to be a cake, set aside to cool as Lambert chops cheese and vegetables and rolls out pastry into the pie tin.

Jaskier appears in the doorway as he finishes up, shaking to get the worst of the water off so as not to drip, and giving his hair a quick rub before leaving the towel round his shoulders. He doesn't bother with more as he suspects they're both going to end up in the bath in a moment. That's also the reason he doesn't feel guilty about wrapping an arm round Jaskier as he grabs the towel and pulls Geralt in for a deep kiss.

With a bright laugh, Ciri turns back to him, beckoning with an eager smile as snow starts to drift down onto her from something hidden in the trees. He sticks his tongue out, catching a few flakes, before focusing on the scene in front of them. It's another of the model scenes, a foot high (and surprisingly elaborate) ski lodge at the top of a rock garden, a variety of ski slopes threading between the patches of hardy plants, and even a little ski lift to take the animated clothes peg folks back up to the top.

Lambert can see the way Aiden's pacing along the top of the boundary wall on the far side of the gardens from him, overlooking the ornamental lake, graceful but watchful, from his own perch in the sturdy branches of a huge oak, thankfully bare of leaves for the season. It had been their case first, but after three days of nothing but more questions and no sign of the missing people they'd called in reinforcements, and Lambert's pack had been closest.
