Sonic and Tails follow the trail of Doctor Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik once again. However, this time the mad doctor is one step ahead. In a bizarrely competent move, he begins using alternate universes to his advantage, sending the duo on an adventure through which they make new allies, meet new enemies, and discover things about the multiverse.
Unfortunately, the events caused by the doctor's schemes cause irreversible damages.
