Turns out getting a tattoo makes you vulnerable to the criminal element. And, fine, it makes sense. It totally makes sense. Secret identities and all that. But who would believe a villain if they shouted left and right that Red Robin has a Superman tattoo? (And the idiots would say Superman for sure, even when it was Superboy's. There's a difference okay.) Literally no one would believe them. Like that B99's scene of Captain Holt showing Jake Peralta his Hula Hooping pics: No one will ever believe you. Yes. That makes sense too. A totally good argument against Batman's anti-tattoos lectures.
OR
Tim secretly gets a matching tattoo with Kon and he feels like he's his actual age for the first time since he was born. And if his family finds out? That's a problem for future-Tim.
But, then, he is future-Tim.
“Tim, is that…?” Dick’s blue eyes were wide open. "Is that a Superman tattoo?"
"Superboy," and it was just fair that Tim corrected him.
From the look on Bruce's face, though, it wasn't the right answer.

Looking down at the surprisingly green grass, Tim inhaled through his bloodied nose and exhaled three consecutive times, very loudly, through his mouth. Then, ignoring the fucking awful and dull pain on his face (and head and chest and ribs and everywhere in his body), he mentally made a quick list of priorities before throwing himself toward his probable early death.
