Igor laces his fingers together and leans forward. He’s every talk show host Akechi has ever spoken to, every interviewer who has smiled and told him how impressive they find him. “I want you to make the right choice.”

Summary
Haru ignores him and finishes wiping down the counter. Sometimes when she looks out into the tiny living room she sees a copy of a copy of a copy of a thousand days that she never really lived. There’s Ann, sitting in the corner painting her nails. There’s Futaba, watching bad movies with Makoto and saying all the lines in tandem with the actors.
There’s Yusuke, sketching and letting Ryuji color until it’s unclear if what they’ve made is art or just a toddler’s mistake. There’s Sumire, watching them all with a quiet smile on her face.
And there’s Akechi, dead and alive and dead all over again, bleeding on the couch or laughing at a joke or smoking a cigarette.

Summary
Ren’s blood runs cold. He’s never heard any of them talk about what happened in such a matter of fact way, as though it was a vacation they all took together. For him, that time was a horror. Every day he woke up and betrayed the people he loved, and every day he told himself he wouldn’t ever do it again.
It’d been awful. He’d cried himself to sleep more times than he could count, had felt sick with the loneliness and the weight of all the mistakes he’d made, and yet he hadn’t been able to break the cycle on his own, no matter how much he tried.
To hear them talking about it as though it was something fun makes something cold and cruel rise up within him.
