No one knows this, no one except for Martyn, and he’s twenty-five and has a lot more important things on his mind than remembering how he acted when he was ten, such as not dying while a scar-covered vex and a parrot of feathers red-yellow-green threaten his base and his King. His cave and his Hoard.”

Summary
Xisuma was one of those kids who shouldn’t have had unrestricted access to the internet at a young age. Having access to the internet, though, also made him realize he wasn’t the only one who felt like he did. There were others who thought that their bodies didn’t feel right, that they should have tails and fur and paws and so much more. That they weren’t human.

Ex had always known they weren’t human. They look in the mirror in the morning and they’ve never seen a five foot four human with brown hair and brown eyes, they see an eight foot ten creature with silky ivory fur and red glowing eyes. They look behind them and see a tail tipped in a red tuft of fur, they look at their hands and see paws and claws.

Summary
Pearl has known she was the moon her whole life. Not just that she's connected to it, like how all moth hybrids tend to be. But that she was the moon as much as the moon was her.
Grian has known he was a parrot his whole life. Not just a parrot avian, but an actual parrot. His wings, his talons, his feathers, they all are right, and he feels lucky for it. But he has no beak, he has skin and hands and he is not a bird in the way he wishes he were.
Jimmy has known he was a phoenix his whole life. He is a canary but his feathers are too yellow, too solid, too cold. He can feel a flame deep within him, but it does not warm him as it should.

Summary
Grian was seven when he first watched a documentary about parrots. He wasn’t able to finish the documentary before breakfast, but he went back to watch it after. Then he watched it again, until he was kicked off the tv. Then he searched for more documentaries like that, anything with birds in general he’d watch eventually, but he’d always watch anything with parrots as soon as he could.
