Wukong would like to think that he’d come a long way since the beginning of the journey. He roughly gouged his process through the increasing intervals between every bout of circlet-tightening. It had been a few months since the last time the golden headband was used for punishment.
So kneeling in front of Tripitaka with the excruciating pain around his head felt a lot like a setback.

“You came to me,” Sandy pointed out.
Wukong’s face couldn’t get any redder than it already was from the fever, but his heartbeat picked up speed. “I did, didn’t I?"

“What insolence!” the Master barked. “I merely decided it would be less wasteful for you to eat the leftovers instead of tossing it away!”
“Hehe you love me,” the monkey sang as his tail twirled around happily. “You’re such a big ol’ softie!”

Mk’s eyes widened at what the mist left behind. “What is THAT?!”
Monkey King’s head snapped to where Mk was pointing. A naked monkey cub sat on the floor, sucking on the tip of his own tail as he stared back at them with round, twinkly eyes. He had a familiar heart-shaped, peachy marking around his eyes. VERY familiar...
The pair turned to stare back at each other, mentor and mentee seemingly arriving at the same realization at the same time.
“Oh shit.”
A giddy, high-pitched cackle rang through the treasure room. What seemed to be a baby version of the Monkey King found the situation very amusing for some reason, clapping his hands in glee as the real Monkey King glared at it, mouth twisted in horror.
mk breaks a mirror. this has unforeseen consequences (bad news: a baby swk pops into existence and now its up to the REAL swk to take care of it... if he can even keep it alive) (good news: hes a really cute baby)

“I’m not!” Ao Lie covered his face. It was dark here with no fire or moonlight peeking through canopies to see, but his brother monkey always had freakish sixth senses.
“Hmm, alright,” Wukong easily dropped the topic. “I heard a stream nearby! Let’s go wash up!”
“What about our camp?”
“Pshh, they can handle themselves for a little while. I wanna show you something,” and without room for protest, Wukong started pulling him by the hand, navigating past trees and over creeping tree trunks with ease.

Erlang blinks many times before he finally convinces himself he’s not seeing a mirage. The mist brushes the monkey demon's face, molding a rather ghostly impression. It’s terrible just how similar they look. Erlang’s breath quickens, as if their brief confrontation was enough to tire him.
The Destined One stares back, seeming somewhat bored but unblinking. Oh, what striking resemblance. Although the different attitude he conducts himself with makes him rather uncanny.
“I’ve never seen one in person before,” Erlang says in awe. “They were right, you’re almost identical.”

Erlang wrinkled his nose. “That was one month ago.”
“Yes, one long month it was. But I haven’t drunk.”
“Then why are you throwing up all over yourself like an invalid?”
“I’m not sure, I haven’t eaten anything wrong. Though my physician suggests that my body is weakened because I haven’t been resting well.”
His physician cleared her throat from the side of the room. “His Majesty couldn’t have eaten wrong because he hadn’t eaten anything at all. And his Majesty hadn’t slept a wink for well over a week now.”
Erlang snarled, “Sun Wukong!”
Wukong cowed and shrunk into his chair with a pout. He glared to the side of the room and waggled his finger at his physician. “You snitch. I’ll remember this.”
Wukong works himself to sickness while sorting out a deal with a neighboring demon king for the betterment of his monkeys. Erlang comes over to berate him for it. And also care for him a little, maybe, who knows
