"Do you want to be friends?" Makoto’s voice breaks the silence, a placating smile on his face. Even though Makoto must only have good intentions, Byakuya can’t stop the voice in the back of his head from giving its input. You don’t need friends. You never needed friends.
"No," Byakuya snaps. Makoto laughs instead of calling him out on the obvious lie.

Summary
For a while, Shuichi remains up against the wall, trying to collect himself. The dizziness refuses to pass, however. He's standing there for several minutes when he hears footsteps down the hallway. Gritting his teeth, he closes his eyes and tilts his head towards the ground, praying that whoever it is will think he's casually leaning against the wall. There's blood dripping down his face, an uncomfortable sensation that makes him want to itch and rip at his skin. He thinks his nose is bleeding—at least, that would explain the coppery metallic taste that is falling onto his lips. The sound of footsteps continues, and Shuichi realizes with a growing sense of dread that a person is walking towards him.
Shuichi trips through a floorboard before the third trial, and Kokichi is the one who finds him.

Summary
“You’re funny when you’re almost dead,” Kokichi remarks. Shuichi blinks at him for a moment, his brain grinding to a halt at the latter two words. He knows his wound is serious, sure, but deadly? He takes a shuddering breath and tries to remain calm. Panicking further won’t do him any good.
Someone tries to kill Shuichi. The detective awakens to find Kokichi looming over him.

“Yes?” Shuichi asks, instinctively stiffening when he hears Kokichi calling his name. He’s now awkwardly standing behind his chair, a cup of water in his hand. All of his classmates suddenly fall silent, observing his conversation with Kokichi. For some reason, Shuichi wants the earth to swallow him whole.
“You’ll catch me!” Kokichi offers, strangely confident despite the fact that Shuichi hasn’t actually responded yet. Although, that’s a characteristic habit for Kokichi: assuming someone’s stance on something before asking them.
In which Shuichi learns about trust falls.

Summary
Byakuya closes his eyes and prays to the gods he never believed in. They don't answer, because the universe seems set on making his life a living hell. Byakuya must admit, his current situation does feel something like divine retribution. That's the only reasonable explanation for the insanity he finds himself engulfed in—as he finds himself shivering from fever and plagued with memories of the lies he's told, with only Makoto Naegi for company.
A Despair Disease fic centered around Byakuya and Makoto. This can be read as a ship piece, but nothing is explicitly romantic.

Summary
There’s a gaping hole in Teruteru’s chest, as if someone clawed and tore into his chest. The iron skewer is impaled in his heart and blood leaks from the wound, staining his clothes red and seeping to the ground below. The boy has a shocked expression on his face—eyes wide and lips parted. It’s a gruesome sight, but something else about the skewered heart makes Hajime stop in his tracks. It’s a gift, he realizes with growing horror. Teruteru’s corpse is practically wrapped like a present, and when Hajime closes his eyes, he sees a gift tag with his own name on it.
Teruteru flirts with Hajime one too many times.

Summary
Hajime watches silently as Makoto and his friends explore the school around them, finding hints of the lives they don't remember living. The classroom on the fifth floor of the school in particular is harrowing. Blood coats the floor a sickening crimson. The desks and chairs are reduced to rubble. Byakuya stands in the center of the room, twitching at the smell of death that surely surrounds the air. Hajime's eyes burn as he watches the Byakuya he never knew, so similar yet so different from the one he came to know.
In which Monokuma forces Hajime’s class to watch a screening of Makoto's class undergoing the killing game.

"Well..." she breaks off, her eyebrows furrowed in confusion. Makoto raises an eyebrow at her. It's not often that Kyoko is puzzled by something. Yet, she seems to be at a loss for words. Regardless of his friend's confusion, Makoto asks her again. Kyoko sighs, clearly a bit annoyed by his stubbornness. "Byakuya."

Mukuro knows Junko better than anyone; she knows her better than she knows herself. She’s intimately familiar with every piece of her sibling’s soul, every dark corner in the winding labyrinth of her mind. If there’s anyone who can pull this off, it’s her. Mukuro feels an undignified shiver of satisfaction run along her skin at the thought that she’s important, even valued to be relied upon so heavily.
It is easy for Mukuro to love Junko. Becoming her is a different story.
