Summary
It's fulfilling in a different way than Katsuki ever imagined it. It's skin on skin, and rumpled sheets and a dawn with Shouto’s head resting on Katsuki’s shoulder and Katsuki’s arm draped over Shouto’s stomach, where Shouto seems to belong to the sunlight in the same way Katsuki belongs to sweat and salt—but the precise physicality isn't the important part. The important part is that they are safe. They are so, so in love and languid and nothing can hurt them. Not together. Not just yet.
Or: it's been a long time coming but they figure it out. All it takes is some poker, some stars, and some honesty.

Shouto swallows, starts running his thumb up and down Katsuki's pointer finger. He's always so patient, with him. With his problems and the fog in his head. Even after all these years. It's almost like salt in the wound, because how does something that soft not hurt? How does he breathe in the waiting space?
"I keep thinking of Mother."
Or: in the heat of the moment, Shouto says something to his mother that he later comes to regret. Katsuki's here to help out, because he loves Shouto's imperfect parts too.

It never seems to end.
It feels so hopeless in these moments, when his lungs don't feel like they're moving—dead bags of meat, hanging like bodies. He remembers everything feeling worth it a month ago, when he was sitting in the garden at Katsuki's parents' house and evening was encroaching but the air was still warm. Remembers resting his head on Katsuki's shoulder and watching the grass sway, pink sweeping the sky like Katsuki's finger gently tracing his eye bags, eyelashes closing on someone's cheek—the way Katsuki had swatted his arm and gone, Oi, pretty boy, what're you staring at? and the way that Everything seemed like an appropriate answer. It felt so good to be there in that moment. God, when did that leave?
"Hey, sweetheart," Katsuki says quietly, tapping Shouto's shoulder like it might make a sound, "turn around for me."
Or: for Shouto, life is getting hard again. He knows he'll be okay, eventually, but he's got Katsuki to take care of him in the meantime.

Katsuki used to be insistent on getting the groceries alone; hated having someone hovering over his shoulder, rushing him, changing his route around the store. Everything's always different with Shouto, though. Next to him—always next to him—Shouto reads the labels on the products and bugs him about cat-shaped ice molds or whatever else they've got in the clearance aisle that week. Nattering on about I miss when strawberries were in season or Katsuki. Look. Themed ice-cream, and then attacking him with those big, mismatched eyes and a Please? It's not fair how pretty he looks in shitty fluorescent supermarket lighting. It's physically impossible for Katsuki to refuse.
Or: Katsuki and Shouto are probably too young to be this domestic, but they're doing it anyway.
