Nick slumped after sliding into the booth, joining and sitting across from Johnnie, who was flipping through a book that had been among the others on the shelf that was now pinning the door shut. He looked up, chuckling at his words, "We're only on day five. If this goes on as long as most apocalypse movies, all of us would die from boredom and or smelling gross."

an apocalypse breaks out in Los Angeles, California and the very people who lived their lives on the internet have to learn to survive without it, solve the mystery of the sudden apocalypse, and possibly- escape it.

"You love me platonically?" Jake offered.
"Yeah! And I don't know if I've really said that out loud before, but I do." he elaborated, "I love you, or whatever."
Jake let out a laugh, causing Johnnie to look up from his lap with a frown because why was he laughing when Johnnie was being genuine and vulnerable and gentle and all those things he avoided being?
"You're laughing. I told you that I love you and you're laughing." Johnnie knew he probably sounded whiny, "You suck. Asshole."
Or,
Jake and Johnnie have a spontaneous day together that involves coffee at 3 pm, walks in the park, running through the rain, and maybe a love confession or two.

"When you came to Chicago, I mean. besides music, what were you looking for?"
Jake took a moment to respond. "I was just taking my next best step, I guess. I wanted to pursue music and Chicago was the place to do that. And I desperately needed to get out of Kansas, y'know? I always imagined a girlfriend and family at some point down the line, but I haven't been all that worried about that sort of thing in the last few years."
"Me neither." he admitted in a slightly airy voice, "What we have is..."
"All we'll ever need?" Jake offered, clearly being careful as he put his words together.
"Yes, exactly." Johnnie hummed.
And even though the conversation is simple, those words being said out loud is like sealing the deal on something they've both been thinking about for a while:
They wanted to spend the rest of their lives together.
