Summary
“I make you uncomfortable,” Halsin said. He didn't look hurt by it, but his voice was strained in a way that betrayed some of his own discomfort at the notion.
March laughed. Sweet of him to think they could be thrown off so easily. It shook its head.
“You baffle me,” it admitted. “I can't put my finger on you.”
With the prisoners freed and Thaniel safe, the group takes a moment to celebrate. Halsin grabs the chance to figure out where he stands with their ruthless leader.

Summary
“I was worried,” March said and interrupted his private little spiral. “About you.”
Halsin thought back on it dragging him up at tribunal, the brief panic in its eyes it couldn't hide. That still didn't explain the rest.
“I am well,” he promised.
“I don't mean now. I've… been worried.”
Oh. For a moment Halsin felt stupid, though no less confused.
Upset—not at him, but on his behalf. What was he supposed to make of that?

Summary
“You cannot do this to me and then ask me to lie back and take it,” Halsin said. “What should I do?”
It was a bit heady, truthfully, to not only have him so open before it but asking for directions too. A sense of power was not what March wanted over Halsin, but knowing that he would put that trust in it did something to the tightly woven ball of nerves in its chest.
It brushed its lips over his pulse point. “Like you said. Lie back and take it.”
