Summary
“Jon, this is why I'm here. I'm s’posed to protect you. Your work is too important.”
“Not at the cost of your own life.” The reply is curt, nearly as sharp as the blade that cut into the meat of him hours before. “Not…not when it's my fault. I lost my temper, and I got caught. Should have just let her hit me.”
“It wasn’t your fault. You're just trying to live. It's not your fault you gotta hide like this.” Martin straightens his posture, lifting his arm with a tired grunt to grant Jon further access. “And, I'm sorry, but that actually is the deal. This is what I signed up for when I became a knight. It's what Lord Rayner and Sir Dekker have asked of me. Protecting you is my duty, and if I die in service of that, then I die. It's part of my oath.”
With the wrapping secured, the room goes deathly still. Martin searches for more words of comfort, more ways to explain that this is what he's expected to do. What he's trained for. All he's ever been good for.

“Just – thinking.” Jon replies simply, another dull thud of their tail against the old oak floor.
“Must be thinking rather hard, then.”

“It's customary for knights to be rewarded in these games, isn't it?” Jon replies in a half-whisper, fingers tracing along the edge of chain mail that ends just above Martin's calf. “I think this is more than appropriate for the occasion, dear.”

Summary
Jon breathes against his skin, taking in his scent, and the slow drag of air leaves the air a bit thinner. Martin's own breaths are coming a bit quicker now. He feels light-headed. Although he can't entirely determine if that's due to any real lack of air, or simply because he's growing more and more aware of the dizzying scale of this moment, and that of the near serpentine body spread across their bed.
Martin knew that Jon was larger in their true form, but it's certainly more apparent now. He's so used to being able to toss the tiny dragon around as much as they pleased in their diminutive human-like state. But the tables are very much turned on that front, and suddenly the scale of Jon's bed feels far less indulgent. Now it's practical.
Gods, can they actually do this?

I itch.
That was the first thought to flit across their mind when Jon roused back into consciousness. They attempt to scratch the tiny prick of pain that sits against their collarbone, but their claws are no good for the task. The source is far too deep.

Summary
Martin drops his head on instinct. Fully aware that his relatively newfound comfort with casual nudity really only extends to Jon. Not everyone here is nude, mercifully, but it makes conversations rather difficult at this "social club" when Martin doesn't know where it's appropriate to look. And eye contact isn't exactly his strong suit, either.
Still, there are rules here; which both the hostess explained on their arrival, as had Gerry when he recommended the place after a particularly awkward conversation. Guests are encouraged to move between the different rooms based on what sort of "activity" they might enjoy. Those activities can vary from a bit of light socializing to, well…the room they've found themselves now.

Summary
"Are you comfortable, Your Highness?"
It's a reasonable enough question, as it's difficult to tell just from looks alone. The Princess looks quite settled in the centre of the bed, framed by crushed velvet linens and Jon's favourite pillows, wrapped in a striking white silk gown that feels impossibly soft beneath Jon's hands.
But as the Princess tugs against the ropes binding his arms above his head, Jon is starting to wonder how appreciative their guest truly is of their generous accommodations.

Summary
Something tightens in their chest, and their next breath falls short of satisfaction, forced back from their lungs in a pitiful whine. They hook one leg around their assailant's, then…what comes next again? Grab the arm? Can't exactly manage that with their hands still pinned.
So Jon attempts to yank their hands free, squirming beneath the heavy set of hips spread across their own, but it's no good. They are well and truly trapped.

Summary
He doesn't know if he would have noticed the cold if it weren't for the bright core of heat that has settled in his lap. The contrast is sharp; a razor's edge slicing into the delicate shroud of sleep, but not enough to rouse him completely. Only enough to offer a glimpse of the waking world through heavy eyelids before the visions disappear into the dark.
It all comes to him in pieces; a glint of ivory, a flash of iridescence, pitch-dark waves that bounce on slender shoulders – the mind is a wondrous thing, spinning up such a lovely scene to entertain him in his fitless sleep. It's a dream he's had so many times, one that he'll never tire of, even if the shape of it has warped with time.
“Shh, don't – ahh – don't move, dear. Just – just let me…”

Summary
This isn't the first time that Martin has been handed a tool such as this. It feels familiar enough as he turns it in his palm, inspecting the length of hide that flicks dramatically at its end in much the same way that his horse, Nessa – and Jon, for that matter – will swipe their tail from side to side to signal their frustrations. But he was never keen to use a whip of any sort, and would avoid them whenever he could. He's found that the livestock he's cared for on the estate could more often be reasoned with, if one just met them on their level. Maybe a rough and assured hand to guide them when they're frightened, but pain for the sake of it always felt too cruel.
And yet…
“Right, so erm – you want me to hit you?”
