Summary
This is a work of Fan Fiction inspired by The Ministry of Time by Kaliane Bradley The author of this book invented and owns the characters and the plot.
The book ends with a cliff hanger and when wondering what would come next in the story, I indulged myself in typing out a scene, and ended up typing up a whole story. This story only makes sense if you have read The Ministry of Time, I have not over-explained plot points.
The Narrator of the original story is un-named. She is called “my bridge” and "Little Cat" by Graham Gore. She is an employee of the Ministry of Defence who was recruited into the Time Travel division. Her profession is translation of Asian languages. In this story she may seem passive, and rightly so. She believes she may have been complicit in a war crime. She has trauma having witnessed at least three violent deaths. She has every reason to be reactive, cautious and wary.

He is a family man, with a large network of cousins throughout the US and Canada. Sometimes, depending on the schedule he is the captain or master of The Choice, other times he might act as a mate or even a cook, often with his cousin Grant. His VIP cruise lecture on the future of the oceans in a climate crisis will break your heart. He and his cousin Grant are rescue rangers by default.

Summary
Graham and Little Cat now live in a small apartment as they are making decisions about their future as a married couple. They have not quite been brave enough to discuss weddings or if they want to live in the San Juan Islandss or Victoria B.C. And, they are 150 years apart in world history and culture and so need to explore just what one means by marriage. Graham's stories of naval life is a complete fiction, it's not based upon anything historical, except I have read a lot of Patrick O'Brian and remember that women were aboard ships constantly.
I threw in a little home life for them which includes a musical instrument for each.

Summary
Inspired by the recent Christmas story for the expats in The Ministry of Time by Kaliane Bradley, I thought that Jeanette could remember a happy Christmas with Arthur Gore as her friend. Adela is dead and she has been for some time. Arthur has recovered from his war injury and lives with his father, whom we could call Graham Sr., the first Graham who was pulled from the ice. Adela's parents are also gone now, but not the close friendship that formed with the family that lived across the street. Jeanette married Roger, a firefighter. They have little boys. This family knew Adela and were generous and kind when she was pronounced "missing in action and presumed dead." Arthur and Graham can feel comfortable around them, and so have kept this relationship precious.
The event in this story takes place in the middle of Chapter 5 of "What the Future Holds for Arthur Gore." It is the first morning she spends in her new home with her husband and father-in-law.

Arthur John Gore, a named character in the book The Ministry of Time by Kaliane Bradley, is a rising prince of the Navy within the Ministry of Intelligence. When a foreign spy is convicted of murder, that agent will be executed. This is a result of decades of war in the near future, there is no mercy left. Members of Gore's cohort take turns with this task, training and supervising an execution squad. It's a job that needs to be done.
The convicted espionage agent in this story will die. The officers who perform the task of the execution will do their duty.

In the book The Ministry of Time by Kaliane Bradley, the character of Arthur John Gore is introduced as the fifteen-year-old child of Adela Gore and the first Graham Gore abducted from the past.
In this fan fiction response to the novel the first Graham Gore becomes an Admiral, after Adela dies. See "What the Future Holds for Arthur Gore" to read more about his life.
At age sixty-seven Arthur is ordered to go into the time machine to the past in be a beggar for the future. If the peoples of the past can make a few different choices, everyone's lives will be better. He becomes the Diplomat from the Future. He works with Envision, an environmental org., and is busy, but lonely. His friend Layla Nazeri takes him to visit her Baha'i family in Vancouver, B.C., where he meets her widowed aunt, Pari. Arthur and Pari fall in love, they marry, and then they have to figure out what that means for the rest of their lives as he is a diplomat and sometimes she is Mrs. Diplomat.
This multi-chapter story is meant to be a romance. Occasionally, other characters from The Ministry of Time will stop by.

This detective story, a mystery, is also posted as Chapter 18 in "A Romance for the Diplomat for the Future." I wanted to be able to tag it for its genre without expecting readers to wait until Chap. 18 to find it. Arthur John Gore is the son of Adela and First Graham, canon characters in the novel The Ministry of Time by Kaliane Bradley. The stories about Arthur are post-canon. He has used the time machine in the novel to go one hundred years in the past to beg for the future, now suffering from climate change. He is known as the "Diplomat" by the people who assist him in this task. He is about 72 years old in this story. It is the present day.
The name that Arthur Gore uses in the past is Arthur Lewis. Going through the time machine has given him a duality. But, we don't see much of "Captain Gore" in this story. Arthur marries into a large Persian family. His wife is Pari Rahmani and she is a widow. Her husband died in a mysterious car accident and deep inside Arthur is a police detective who believes that there is a mystery to be solved. There are many original characters in this story. If the cast becomes confusing, please ask a question in the comments.

Arthur John Gore, the Diplomat from the Future, has joined an Anglican church in Vancouver B.C. He has married Pari Rahmani, a Persian Baha'i who has Zoroastrian heritage. On the winter solstice they attend a Sunday afternoon service that is the Nine Lessons and Carols as celebrated in Great Britain. On the same evening it's Yalda Night, the ancient celebration of the winter solstice in the Persian cultural tradition.
There is cooking, eating, baking, dressing up in Parisian fashion, poetry recitation, sparkling lights, and Pari plays the daf!

In my original story, Arthur John Gore lives a long life in the future timeline of "The Ministry of Time" by Kaliane Bradley. At the end, the future sends him as a Time Traveller to the past to try to save the world from ecological disaster. One hundred years in the past he meets the one successful set of the duplicates of his own parents, the Admiral and Adela. Despite being relatives that cannot be explained, they become friends.
What happens to duplicates when they age, become sick and die? In the course of coming to terms with this, after a shattering health diagnosis, Mrs. Gore begins telling her husband a story. In this story there is no time machine, they are unique human beings who meet each other while at work in the Ministry. This story begins in the second chapter and continues in sections.
"A Ghost Story" brings together two characters who do not meet in the book. They are Graham's Bridge and Adela's husband, the first Graham pulled from the ice. Do they have anything to share with each other?
There is a horror aspect to Mrs. Gore's dreams, because what happened to those failed duplicates who didn't work out at the Ministry of Time?

Summary
This is a one-shot, a missing scene from the story about How We Love Who We Love. Our escaped expat Graham Gore is settled with his Bridge in British Columbia, they have a happy married life with three children. But, Graham has cancer and he is going to die of it. As he and his wife come to terms of their unusual life story, thrown together with the intention that they will love one another, she begins to tell him a fictional story. So meta.
This is a missing scene from that story, where the Lieutenant tells the Translator how he feels, and they make a nice meal for themselves together. It has reflections from their past life, but here we are just going to enjoy this time they have together.
This can be read after Chapter 2 of How We Love Who We Love.

In the book, The Ministry of Time by Kaliane Bradley, we meet Graham Gore, an Arctic explorer and Navy Lieutenant Commander, pulled off the ice by a time machine, and his "bridge" the un-named narrator of the story. Also, there is Adela, a Vice-Secretary of the Ministry of Time and slowly there is a creeping realization who she really is. At the end of the story she lets it be known that she is married to the very first Graham Gore who was taken off the ice, and that they have a son. A few other hints have been laid about Adela as the first bridge and her husband being the first Graham and it is so tempting to explore their story, which would be completely different than the one told about the two main characters in the book. So, four chapters. The first is Graham waking up in the Wards. The second is about their first time making love with each other, The third will be about how he negotiated their future, and the fourth how the two of them will walk into that future, together.

Thirty years later, these men meet for a drink, because they have been visited by a Time Traveller, who sure looks a whole lot like a younger Arthur Gore, and is asking about these specific executions. Which no one should know about.

The series of stories for "The Future Has Yet to be Written" now has a hundred chapters and dozens of original characters over at least eighteen stories. This page can be used as a reference guide as some of these characters come and go quickly in the background of several of the stories. If the reader does not recognize someone, we can hope that this page will help with that.
Characters in some stories are named by their titles: The Commander, the Mayor, the Police Chief, the Sheriff, the Driver. It is their title that's important to the plot and not their name. They usually appear in only one chapter of a story.
It is established in the original novel that there are TWO characters named Graham Gore. They are the same man in the arctic with the Franklin expedition. The time machine in the novel abducted them at slightly different times. One lives twenty years further in the future than the other. Their circumstances are different and so the two men are different. One becomes career military, the other does not. One is Arthur Gore's father. The other becomes Arthur's friend. Arthur's father is more often called "the Admiral." The two men know about each other.

In the novel "The Ministry of Time", the possibility is left open that Graham Gore (abducted from 1847) and his Bridge will reunite as lovers. In this series, "The Future Has Yet to be Written" they find each other, marry and have children while living and working on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. They have three children, and one of them, Franklin Gore seems to have inherited the ability to move around in time. He doesn't need a machine. It's in his DNA. It is a capacity, not a talent.
Franklin is told by his "cousin" Carmel Khazimipour Cortez that it's time for them to get serious now. Can he allow himself to consider that a time Traveller can also be a lover and husband?
