Gaoshun’s hands tightened around the edge of the table. His jaw tensed. He exhaled slowly, deliberately.
“This is… stronger than anticipated.”
His voice had dropped half a pitch. Rougher. Gravel, velvet, dusk. It settled into her bones.
She stepped closer. “Describe it. For the record.”
He didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he closed his eyes. When he spoke, it was with deliberation.
“Heat,” he said eventually. “Centered low. Radiating. Like... not quite fire. It doesn’t burn—but it lingers. More like... anticipation. Coiled.” He paused. His eyes found hers. “Heavy.”
