Percy has been seeing the past and the future all his life. When he was seven and about to die, he called out to Apollo for help. Apollo brought his brand new baby prophet to his oldest living son, Lee Fletcher, to care for. From there the events of Percy Jackson and The Olympians unfold, both similar to, but also entirely different from canon. Most of the characters' ages have been changed, new backstories added and much of this stories explores the complexity of people and gods.

Prequel: ‘You’re a Demigod, Percy’ = 7yo Percy’s first few months at camp.

The Lightning Thief = The Path Not Chosen

Notes:

Prequel Overhaul - While it does have some new scenes, a wholly new Chapter 13, and a lot more foreshadowing, it does not change the storyline at all. If you've read it already and aren't someone who re-reads, feel free to ignore it entirely. If you want more Baby Percy and Lee angst and fluff, you're going to love it! There's also Triton angst and expanded god POV's.

I've got the original backed up and if people really want the hot mess back, I'll upload it as a new fic. The storyline is not changing. I've kept every sentence of the original, in spirit at least given how many typos/grammatical mistakes it had. They're just now not full of typos and mistakes. And I've expanded it a tonne and added new scenes.

I began writing this series on May 19th 2025. Prior to this, I had not done any form of creative writing in nearly twenty years. But this story idea would not leave me alone, so I started writing.

The (original) prequel is my first ever piece of fiction and is much rougher than each following instalment. I do intend on going back through one day and fixing the more glaring typos (complete as of Feb '26), but please feel free to let me know if you see any that particularly bother you.

The quality of writing improves markedly as the series progresses.

I do not use the original text except for occasional uses of dialogue only. I have re-interpreted and rewritten the rest in my own words with my own spin on things. I re-use scenes, add my own and sometimes remix them entirely. I only learned after I was halfway through the series that most fanfic writers who re-write the books do use chunks of the original text and I'd just made a lot more work for myself, but I'm having fun, so.

I write using Third Person Limited in present tense, and POV switches mostly between Percy, Clarisse and (after the second book) Nico. Occasionally you'll get an interlude POV from Dionysus, Apollo, Hades, Triton, Lee, Piper and Leo. Leo and Triton only have a couple of scenes from their POV in the PJO arc. There's a single POV from Austin somewhere in there too. When we get to the HoO arc you get Reyna, Jason and Octavian as well. Plus lots more Piper and Leo in TLH. And Hazel and Frank get to have their say from SoN onwards.

While I used the canon characters I have changed many ages and backstories. These are explained at the stories unfold. I have followed the events of canon, but the changes mean that like in any fan fiction, the story is also significantly different. Take that as you will :)

I am not American and the majority of my time spent doing research for this has been on US geography. Trying to make the stories make sense was a little too frustrating at times and there are points where I just gave up and used RR's original hand waving geography. Though by HoO I am making a concerted effort to use accurate geography and history.

I am currently working on continuing with HOO. I duplicated the format of the PJO arc and gave Jason and Camp Jupiter their own prequel covering events from seven year old Jason's arrival in New Rome up to and including the battle with Krios on Mount Othrys.

I've now switched to posting chapter by chapter, as I'm starting to struggle with the longfic editing and needed some motivation. SoN is in progress but I'm not expecting to have anything to post before March/April at the absolute earliest. The Roman stuff is heavy going to write, and a lot denser all round.
