Summary
Muggle pubs were lovely for a bit of solitude and time with her thoughts, but truly, was her life so terrible? She had a loving husband, a group of loyal friends, a pending job in the Department of Mysteries that many would kill for and several years of domestic life to look forward too. . . but a part of Lily wanted more.
James could be too possessive, too controlling. She wasn't allowed to see her friends anymore, much less visit the one old friend she dearly wished to see. James didn't mean to hurt his wife, but perhaps while Lily loved him for his care and protection, she also loathed it. Sometimes, Lily couldn't help wondering if Severus' Darkness would have smothered her own flames as well.
Glancing over at Philius, with his long, voluminous black hair and fathomless blue eyes, Lily was really more ashamed of herself. Thinking of Philius' troubles, Lily really had no reason to be sulking as she was. But if James and Severus weren't enough for her, though, perhaps Philius could be. At least for one night.
Lily blinked in surprise at the turn of her thoughts, and looked down at her drink.
Perhaps she was drunker than she thought.Series

Summary
Philius thought himself so clever, using a Latin pseudonym when witches and wizards utilized the language every damn day. It wasn't difficult for Lily to put two and two together.
Harry was less than a year old when the monsters started attacking. Dumbledore claimed they were all sent by Voldemort, trying to scare the Potters out of hiding. It made some sense, Lily supposed, but the fact they were mostly legendary Greek creatures should've tipped her off.
Lily was just relieved that her child was alive. Harry was her only light anymore, a brilliant spark in a world full of darkness and flame - never mind that he was the most obvious proof that Lily had been shagged by a Greek God.
James didn't understand her choice; he couldn't understand.
But perhaps one day, Lily hoped, Harry would.Series

Summary
As far as anyone could tell, the Dursleys had a perfect little life in their cookie-cutter house, picket fences and all. Vernon was the director at Grunnings Drills while Petunia played trophy wife, spending her days gossiping and holding tea parties. Their son, Dudley, was the perfect addition to their pristine, normal life.
Freak was the exact definition of abnormal. He was a nasty little child, (quietly planning their demise, they were sure) as he stared straight through the Dursleys with those eerie green eyes of his. The boy was hidden away, kept out of sight and out of mind - for the Dursley's own 'safety'.
Freak made the mistake once, asking his Aunt if she loved him. The answer was a resounding no and a slap upside the head.
Another time, still naive, Freak asked her why - and, this time, he got spittle in his face as Petunia ranted and raved about his ungratefulness, his freakishness, his unnatural parents and their dangerous magic. At this, Freak perked up. What was that about his parents? About magic? Petunia immediately shut down, locking Freak into his cupboard without another word.
But she'd said enough, and suddenly, a lot of things started to make sense.

Summary
Harry was a goddamned celebrity - a celebrity whose stomach rolled in dread at the very thought of such attention. For Merlin's sake, he was famous because survived a murder attempt, one that killed his parents. Harry hadn't much experience with non-Dursley people, but he was quite certain death wasn't something you'd celebrate.
(Harry should know. He'd been on it's doorstep more times than he was willing to count.)
With trolls, a Cerberus, possessed teachers and a Dark Lord out for Harry's blood, life isn't about to get any less complicated.
Luckily, Harry's made some friends. Strange friends, but true friends all the same; and they aren't about to let the Boy-Who-Lived meet his maker anytime soon.

Summary
To Harry, being a wizard was the one thing that made life worth living for. He missed Hogwarts so much it physically hurt. The one thing he hadn't missed about Hogwarts, however, was the near-death experiences; those, Harry could've done without.
To be honest, Harry was just happy he'd made it to age twelve without loosing any limbs, although he'd certainly come close a few times with the troll, Hagrid's pet Cerberus, Fluffy, and his deranged ex-professor going after him like Harry was a particularly tasty morsel. Little does Harry know that his second year won't be peaceful in the slightest;
With sudden attacks and fresh torments making Harry question his heritage, a narcissistic Defense teacher wrecking havoc and a hidden threat encouraging a hapless innocent to commit atrocious acts right beneath Dumbledore's crooked nose, the (oblivious) son of Zeus has never felt so powerless.
